말씀제목: 하나님이 주시는 자유(Liberty)와 사람이 줄 수 있다고 말하는 자유(Freedom)
사도 바울은 갈라디아에 있는 성도들에게 “그리스도께서 우리를 위하여 자유케 하신 그 자유(The liberty) 안에 굳게 서서 다시는 종의 멍에를 매지 말라“(갈 5:1)고 간절한 마음으로 부탁했습니다.
당시 유대인들과 그들과 함께 거하는 모든 이방인들이 받았던 할례에 대하여 상기시키면서 더 이상 할례를 받지 말라고 권고했습니다. 그 이유에 대해 할례 받은 자들은 율법을 행할 의무가 있기 때문이라고 말했습니다. 또한 율법으로 의롭게 된 사람은 그리스도이신 예수님이 무용하게 되고 은혜로부터 떨어져 나갔다고 증거했습니다.
그러면 그리스도께서 주신 자유(Liberty)가 무엇인지 깨달아야 하는 것입니다. 세상 정치인들이 국민들에게 주겠다는 자유(Freedom)는 예를 들어 집회의 자유나 표현의 자유 같은 것들을 말하는 것이지만 하나님께서 그리스도 예수를 통하여 주신 자유(Liberty)는 모든 죄들과 저주와 사망과 지옥 형벌로부터 완전히 해방해 주시는 영원한 자유(Liberty)인 것입니다.
성경은 사망이 오는 이유에 대하여 분명하게 말씀하고 있습니다:
“오 사망아, 너의 쏘는 것이 어디에 있느냐? 오 음부야, 너의 승리가 어디 있느냐? 사망이 쏘는 것은 죄요, 죄의 능력은 율법이라.”(고전 15:55-56)
하나님께서 모세를 통하여 율법을 주신 후부터 세상에 태어나는 모든 사람은 율법 아래서 태어났습니다. 율법은 한 가지만 어겨도 율법 전체를 범한 것과 같다고 성경은 말씀하시고 있습니다.
“누구든지 율법 전체를 지키다가 하나를 범하면, 전체를 범한 자가 되느니라.”(약 2;10)
그러므로 모든 율법을 범하게 된 모든 사람들은 그 죄로 인하여 사망에게 쏘임을 받아 죽어서 음부 같은 무덤으로 가지만 죽음과 동시에 사람의 혼은 지옥으로 떨어질 수밖에 없게 되었던 것입니다. 다시 말해서 영원무궁토록 하나님의 영광을 볼 수 없게 되었습니다.
그러나 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 구속을 통하여 그의 은혜로 값없이 의롭게 된 것입니다. 의롭게 되었다는 것은 그리스도께서 주시는 자유(Liberty)를 통하여 죄와 사망과 저주로부터 영원히 자유롭게 된 것입니다.
그렇다면 왜, 하나님께서 사람들이 지키지도 못할 율법을 주셔서 모든 사람들이 죄와 저주와 사망 가운데 세상에 태어나게 하셨으며 또한 하나님께서 그리스도 예수를 통하여 어떤 자유를 주셨는지 깨달아야 하는 것입니다.
사도 바울은 로마에 있는 성도들에게 그리스도 예수를 통하여 주신 은혜와 그 은혜를 통하여 자신을 믿는 모든 사람들에게 감히 생각도 상상도 할 수 없는 큰 자유를 영원무궁토록 주셨는지에 대해 비유를 통하여 확실하게 증거했습니다:
“형제들아, (내가 율법을 아는 자들에게 말하노니) 율법은 그가 살아 있는 동안에만 그 사람을 주관하는 것을 알지 못하느냐? 남편이 있는 여인은 그 남편이 살아 있는 한 그에게 법으로 매여 있으나 남편이 죽으면 그 남편의 법에서 벗어나느니라. 그러므로 남펀에 살아 있는 동안에 다른 남자와 혼인하면 간음한 여인이라 불리지만 그녀의 남편이 죽으면 그 법에서 해방되므로 혼인하더라도 간음한 여인이 아니니라. 나의 형제들아, 이런 연유로 너희도 그리스도의 몸으로 인하여 율법에는 죽었나니 이는 너희로 다른 사람, 즉 죽은 자들로부터 일으켜지신 그와 혼인하게 하려는 것이요, 그리하여 우리로 하나님께 열매를 맺게 하려는 것이니라.”(롬 7:1-4)
사도 바울은 율법이 마치 아내를 끊이지 않고 정죄하고 죽을 때까지 평생 동안 못살게 구박하는 못되고 포악한 남편 같다고 비유하고 있는 것입니다. 또한 아무리 그 남편은 죽기를 바라도 절대로 죽지도 않고 이혼도 안 해 주는 남편이니 차라리 그녀가 죽는 편이 편한데 극단적인 선택을 하여 죽을 수도 없는 비참한 여인이라고 비유하고 있는 것입니다.
예수께서 율법에 대하여말씀하셨습니다:
“내가 율법이나 선지서를 폐기하러 온 줄로 생각하지 말라. 폐기하러 온 것이 아니라 이루려고 왔노라. 진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, 하늘과 땅이 없어지기 전에는 율법의 일점 일획도 모든 것이 이루어질 때까지 없어지지 아니하리라.”(마5:17-18)
사도 바울은 율법 아래서 죄와 사망과 저주로 말할 수없이 혹독한 고통 받고 있는 세상 사람들을 위해서 그리스도께서 죽으셨다고 증거했습니다:
“우리가 아직 죄인이었을 때 그리스도께서 우리를 위하여 죽으심으로써 하나님께서는 우리를 향한 그의 사랑을 나타내셨느니라.”(롬 5:8)
예수께서는 모든 것이 이루어질 때까지 율법의 일점 일획도 없어지지 아니하리라고 말씀하셨는데, 모든 것이 이루어질 때가 무엇을 의미하시는 지에 대하여, “하나님께서 세상을 이처럼 사랑하셔서 그의 독생자를 주셨으니“라고 말씀하심으로써 독생자 예수께서 모든 세상 죄인들을 위하여 죽으시고 부활하실 때 모든 것이 이루어질 때가 될 것을 말씀하셨습니다.
그렇게 하신 것은 세상 모든 사람들의 죄들을 자신의 몸 안에 전가 받으시고 모든 죄인들을 자신의 몸 안에 받으시고 십자가에서 죽으심으로써 모든 죄인들을 자신의 몸 안에서 죽게 하시고 율법으로부터 자유롭게 하신 후에 부활하심으로써 누구든지 자신을 믿어 새 남편으로 받아들이2022-05-2239 min
