It is an ancient sacred city completely untouched by the Spaniard's colonialization. There are two paths that reach Machu Picchu. The first way is taking public transportation along the flat route and the second way is to trek the 45 KM along the Andes Mountain on the Classic Inca Trail. The Classic Inca Trail is a path that requires one to climb two peaks with one reaching 4200 M over 4 days period. It is an extremely rewarding hike and definitely the path that we those to reach the sacred city of Machu Picchu.
