Blind Insights - Nanobots in Therapy and in Human Augmentation (Special Guests Arthur Saniotis & Maciej Henneberg)
Arthur Saniotis and Maciej Henneberg are David's colleagues from his days at the University of Adelaide and are Biological Anthropologists who have published extremely interesting research on what they term "endomyccorhizae ligand interface", or ‘ELI' for short. David and Tim got to replicate the kinds of interesting discussions David has had many times in their old office, and discovered the incredible power of this prospective technology.Articles mentioned in this podcast:Integration of Nanobots Into Neural Circuits As a Future Therapy for Treating Neurodegenerative Disorders.Neurosurgical robots and ethical challenges to medicine.Medicorobots' As an...

SciFriday: Human Gene in Monkey Brains
Scientists in China have put a human gene suspected of playing a role in shaping human intelligence into the brains of macaque monkeys. We discuss the ethics, the motivation of the researchers, and the flawed premise behind the experiment—that human intelligence evolved instead of being created by God. Here is the link to the article “Believe it or not, they’re all the same species” Derek mentioned during the program. It describes the research of Prof. Maciej Henneberg of the University of Adelaide that showed that the 200 or so fossilized “pre-humans” are “probably all variants of Homo sapiens.”

Episode 134: Body recognition biometrics
Body recognition biometrics may be the most accurate form of authentication, based on theoretical research conducted at the University of Adelaide. PhD student Teghan Lucas – working with supervisors Maciej Henneberg and Jaliya Kumaratilake – used an old online database of body measurements from 4,000 U.S. military personnel to come up with this system. What she found is that a series of large body measurements combined with one another is better than facial recognition, and it doesn’t much matter if the subject is wearing baggy clothes. Regarding ID’s Gina Jordan spoke with Lucas about her research into body recognition biometrics and what...
