Pauline Ferrand-Prévot: France’s queen of cycling
Pauline Ferrand-Prévot has spent more than 15 years as one of the world’s greatest cyclists, winning multiple world titles in road cycling, mountain biking, and cyclo-cross. But over the past two years, she’s also become a national hero in France. In 2024, the 34-year-old finally claimed her first Olympic gold, triumphing in the women’s cross-country at the Paris Olympics. Then, the following year, Ferrand-Prévot triumphed in the infamously gruelling Paris-Roubaix race, before then becoming the first French winner of the Tour de France Femmes, with two virtuoso rides in the Alps sealing her victory.Pau...

Can you ever stop supporting your football team?
Whether it’s self-made or forced upon you, the decision about which football team to support is usually taken before you learn to ride a bike or even tie your shoelaces. But can ever stop supporting your football team? The BBC’s Nesta McGregor is joined by lifelong Manchester United fan Deborah Henry and psychologist Dr Richard Simpson. Deborah tells us it’s a case of “never say never” in terms of whether she could ever turn her back on United, but she doesn’t believe a fan can stop supporting their club. Dr Simpson claims to su...

Alex Rose: Discus’s Samoan star
Last September, Alex Rose walked into a rain-soaked concrete circle at the Japan National Stadium and made athletics history. While many discus throwers struggled amid the downpour, Rose found a throw of 66.96 metres to win bronze at the World Athletics Championships – his first world-level medal, and a first-ever medal at the championships for the Pacific island of Samoa. What made the feat even more remarkable is that Alex Rose isn’t a full-time athlete. He has to fit training around working and travelling as a sales engineer in his native Michigan – meaning he often has to train on his...

Sexism in football: A problem that isn't going away
English anti-discrimination campaign group Kick It Out has told BBC Sport that, by the end of February 2026, they had received more than double the amount of reports of sexism at football games compared to the same stage of last season. So why is it happening? How can it be stopped? And what kind of impact can receiving sexist abuse at football have on a person? The BBC’s Sophia Hartley is joined by Dr Misia Gervis, a chartered member of the British Psychological Society, and Zoe Hitchen, a former English Football League club photographer who no...

Venezuela on top of the baseball world
Venezuela have been crowned baseball’s world champions after winning the World Baseball Classic for the first time. In a dramatic final in Miami on Tuesday night, an RBI double from Eugenio Suarez put Venezuela 3-2 up on the USA in the final inning, before pitcher Daniel Palencia struck out Roman Anthony to seal victory. It sparked huge celebrations both in Caracas and among Miami's large Venezuelan expat community. Baseball is arguably Venezuela’s national sport, and Venezuelans made up just over six percent of players to appear in Major League Baseball in 2025.But the win...

Are women being frozen out of Paralympic ice hockey?
Ice hockey has officially been a mixed-gender event at the Winter Paralympics since 2010 – but only four women have taken part in the event in the history of the Games, with Japan’s Akari Fukunishi being the only female player in action at this year’s Milan-Cortina tournament. Those statistics echo wider concerns about female participation at the winter games. The Milan-Cortina Winter Paralympics featured 160 female competitors, more than any previous edition of the Games, but they still only comprised just over a quarter of the athletes who took part.Women’s para-ice hockey did not meet the...

The BBC’s John Bennett is joined by North African football expert Maher Mezahi and Senegalese football journalist Babacar Diarra to discuss the fallout after Morocco were declared winners of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Senegal beat Morocco 1-0 in January’s final, which was overshadowed when Senegal’s players left the field after Morocco were awarded a stoppage-time penalty with the match goalless. Following a delay of about 17 minutes, the players did eventually return and Brahim Diaz's penalty was saved before Senegal's Pape Gueye scored an extra-time winner. She breaks down how their communication works at speed, why tone matters as much as the words, and how trust is built not just on snow but through everyday moments — from navigating a restaurant to adventures like canyoning, go-karting and hiking to Everest Base Camp.
