12. हेमा बिष्ट - एक वार्ता (conversation with Hema Bisht) | Kitaab Ghar Hindi Books
My other Hindi poetry podcasts: Bachchan’s Madhushala: https://open.spotify.com/show/3sTh2uvc4Ze9rS2ta8xdQp Jal Tarang: https://open.spotify.com/show/45OWiFomkPFOMNWhjmKld3 In this episode, a lively conversation with budding writer Hema Bisht. The conversation is all good humour, laced with some life experiences. Hema's books talk about you and me, or the people next door, stories written very simply which you can relate to the world going on around you. In the words of Hema - "I am from Lucknow, a city of elegance and sophistication. Now I live in Melbourne. I did MCA and worked as a software engineer for some time. Writing is my hobby. My pen is the churner with which I churn the ocean of conscience. Sometimes I bring out the gems of emotions, the air of love, and sometimes I bring forth the Halahal that turns Shiva into Neelkanth”. Hema has so far written “Tum Tak”, “Sambhal Ae Dil”, “Udaan”, “Tere Ishq Mein”, and “Dhurandhar”. 11.
My other Hindi poetry podcasts: Bachchan’s Madhushala: https://open.spotify.com/show/3sTh2uvc4Ze9rS2ta8xdQpJal Tarang: https://open.spotify.com/show/45OWiFomkPFOMNWhjmKld3In this episode of Kitaab Ghar, we are discussing Divya Prakash Dubey's book "Ibnebtooti". This book is a tapestry of love stories, woven around the complex yet simple relationships and the practicality to make them better, like the enduring bond between a mother and son. As the narrative unfolds, we are drawn into a series of interconnected relationships, each one enriching the central tale. Old loves are revisited, and new ones emerge, creating a complex and poignant portrait of human connection. A unique aspect of this book is its invitation to reflect on the lives of our parents. Through the character of Raghav, we are reminded that our parents, too, were once young, passionate, and full of dreams. The dedication, "In the name of the mother who was once a twenty-year-old girl," serves as a poignant reminder of this truth.Episode air date: 23-Jul-2022Speakers: Arisudan Y, Anupam Chitkara, Vishwa Deepak, Pragya JhaWelcome to Kitaab Ghar – your podcast for exploring and discussing some of the finest Hindi books – any genre, both old and new.Join us for a live discussion every Saturday on Mentza – https://on.mentza.com/channels/25155 Connect with me:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/_ibnbatuta/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/arisudanLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/arisudan/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJRWgt8jlb28bhOlggocCq_JBhfyawg5uPinterest: https://in.pinterest.com/madhushalapodcast/_created/My website: http://www.arisudan.com#KitaabGhar #Hindi #Books #Literature #Stories #Poetry#ibneBatuti #DivyaPrakashDubey

(Part 2) Kuch Ishq Kiya Kuchh Kaam- Piyush Mishra
This is part 2 of our discussion on Piyush Mishra's "Kuchh Ishq Kiya Kuchh Kaam Kiya". In the previous episode, there is a special audio message from Piyush Mishra himself and his good friend Arun Kalra shares some interesting insights. Piyush Mishra needs no introduction – he is one of the most all-round artistes of India and we can also call him a carefree, sometimes a quirky poet in the category of Kabir and Nirala. You will not find Mahadevi Verma's love, beauty, ornamentation, rhythm and rhyme in Piyush Mishra's poems and he does not even try for it. He speaks his words with an uneasiness, restlessness, a roughness, and this becomes the attraction of his poetry - the same thing is reflected in his songs. 1.
Join us for a live session on Hindi books every Saturday on Mentza app: https://on.mentza.com/channels/25155 Or follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/_ibnBatuta/ About the book: “यदि यूरोप में पुनर्जागरण हुआ, तो भारत में यह एक सतत प्रक्रिया थी। “ Praveen Jha's book "Renaissance" is a brief account of the history of the Indian Renaissance around 1900, detailing the major movements and thinkers of the Indian Renaissance (Vivekananda, Dayanand, Tagore, etc.), as well as its Social, economic and cultural impacts are also discussed. If Renaissance took place in Europe, in India it was a continuous process. It is not appropriate to believe that India was sleeping at that time. Some permanent changes took place after the arrival of the British. On one hand, he gave Indians an inferiority complex, while on the other hand, he also awakened some sleeping civilization. India realized that their culture is thousands of years old, but that does not mean that it is beyond the modern world. India has many such sources which have played an important role in the formation of the modern world. Be it art, science, religion, music or education – India achieved heights in every field during a century. Often it is also called Bengal Renaissance, but it was not limited to Bengal only. Nor was it limited to any one religion or caste. This was a pan-India phenomenon. 18.
In the previous episode, we spoke about the deep and strange relationship between the arid sandy deserts of Sahara and the dense green rainforests of Amazon, the Yin-Yang of it and why we discuss this in Madhushala. One more story was from Bachchan’s childhood, of his birthday and Chamarin Amma (shout out episode 12). Today, we will talk about Bachchan’s friend “Karkal”, nostalgia, and emerald island in Madhushala. अधरों पर हो कोई भी रस जिह्वा पर लगती हाला, भाजन हो कोई हाथों में लगता रक्खा है प्याला, हर सूरत साकी की सूरत में परिवर्तित हो जाती, आँखों के आगे हो कुछ भी, आँखों में है मधुशाला (32) and - किसी ओर मैं आँखें फेरूँ, दिखलाई देती हाला, किसी ओर मैं आँखें फेरूँ, दिखलाई देता प्याला, किसी ओर मैं देखूं, मुझको दिखलाई देता साकी, किसी ओर देखूं, दिखलाई पड़ती मुझको मधुशाला (39) ----------------------- Welcome to Madhushala Podcast (मधुशाला), based on Harivansh Rai Bachchan's epic poetry, written in 1935 and part of the trilogy of Madhubala and Madhukalash. You can read the full script of this episode on Madhushala Blog here. In the previous episode, we talked about the the Bachchan's struggles for publishing Madhushala as a book for the first time, and then the blessings that he received. We also spoke about "Wants vs Needs". In this episode, let's take a walk towards Hastinapur and meet Karna and Arjun there :-) Madhushala: exploring the soul of Bachchan's timeless poetry
Bonus Episode - अभी तो मैं जवान हूँ | Bachchan's Comic Introduction / Robert Browning Rabbi Ben Ezra (Madhushala)
In 1954, when Bachchan ji landed in Mumbai after sailing for 18 days on his return journey from London, there was a Kavi Goshthi organized in his honor. He was asked to recite some poems, but he recited a fun parody instead, rhyming with the names of his most popular poems :-) such as - मैं हूं बच्चन जी मस्ताना, लिखता हूँ मस्ती का गाना, मैंने खोली है मधुशाला, जिसमें रहती है मधुबाला! Then we also talk about Robert Browning’s “Rabbi Ben Ezra” and Hafeez Jalandhari’s “Abhi to main jawaan hoon” while talking about different stages of life. Madhushala: exploring the soul of Bachchan's timeless poetry
Bonus Episode - Madhushala aur Baat Bareilly Ki |
Bareilly has played a very important and dramatic role in Bachchan’s life. Circa 1938, it’s just been about a year since the death of Shyama, the first wife of Shri Harivansh Rai Bachchan. He has not written any new poem since her passing but attends poetry events (Kavi Sammelan) for his own peace (स्वांत: सुखाय). One such invite came from Bareilly and this is where he comes across an admirer of his poetry, who commits suicide in front of the very train that Mr Bachchan was travelling on. But, can his poetry be termed ‘Morbid’, or be held responsible to driving one to end his/her life? Madhushala does not urge people to do this, even in its sadness, some such lines:

Bonus Episode - OSHO Rajneesh and Bachchan's Madhushala |
Circa 1950s to 1970s – That there was a bond between Acharya Rajneesh aka OSHO and Dr Harivansh Rai Bachchan is not a common knowledge. There were similarities between Osho’s preaching and the messages from Madhushala even though Madhushala was written when Osho was a toddler. It is said that he was inspired by Madhushala and other poems of Bachchan ji, which is reflected in his sermons and at his Ashrams. Or this when it comes to Dhyaan or Meditation - ध्यान किए जा मन में सुमधुर सुखकर, सुन्दर साक़ी का, और चलाचल, पथिक, न तुझको दूर लगेगी मधुशाला! Or this when it comes to dancing in a state of trance – आँख चार हों जिसकी मेरे साकी से दीवाना हो, पागल बनकर नाचे वह जो आए मेरी मधुशाला There was also a fallout between Osho and Dr Bachchan, how and why? Let’s take a listen :-) In between, we also talk about the movie “Rose Island” when re read these lines – फिर मैं नभ-गुम्बद के नीचे नव-निर्मल द्वीप बनाऊँगी, जिस पर हिल-मिल कर बसने को सम्पूर्ण जगत को लाऊंगी ----------------------- Welcome to Madhushala Podcast (मधुशाला), based on Harivansh Rai Bachchan's ep...

You can read the full script of this episode on Madhushala Blog here. In the previous episode, we discussed the idea of “Life is a long weekend” in Madhushala and what Dr Bachchan said about the convergence of happiness and sorrow in one’s life – and how that reflects in Madhushala. In this episode, let’s talk about the struggles behind publishing Madhushala as a book for the first time. Life is a long weekend You can read the full script of this episode on Madhushala Blog here. In the previous episode, we shared a ‘shayarana’ banter between Ghalib, Iqbal, Faraz, et al. We also discussed the story of Professor Amarnath Jha, who was a mentor to Dr Bachchan and how he had decided about his last rituals even when he was alive. In this episode, let’s talk about the happiness and sorrow coming together in life. There was another story of Bachchan’s birth in ‘Mool Nakshatra’ and what happened because of that! Today we start with some poetic banter between Ghalib, Iqbal and others. There is also a story of Professor Amarnath Jha and how is he related to Dr. Bachchan.

11th March 2022.The transportive powers of fiction are incomparable and have nurtured a space for infinite imagination in our minds. Khan and Lal, both experiment with genre, style, established notions and varying perspectives in their work. In conversation with literary agent Kanishka Gupta, they...
