Wanneer op 31 Augustus 1991 Chris Walraven afscheid neemt als Algemeen Directeur van Stichting Gaudeamus, draagt hij zonder al te veel poeha de scepter over aan Henk Heuvelmans. Tijdens de overdracht wordt bekend dat aan Gaudeamus de 'Unesco International Music Council-prijs' is toegekend voor haar grote verdiensten voor de contemporaine toonkunst.
