Ayat 35-41: Mengingatkan orang-orang Quraisy terhadap doa nenek moyang mereka, yaitu Nabi Ibrahim ‘alaihis salam, kehormatan Baitullah, pentingnya doa dan sungguh-sungguh melakukannya sambil menampakkan kerendahan dan kebutuhan kepada-Nya.
وَإِذْ قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ رَبِّ اجْعَلْ هَذَا الْبَلَدَ آمِنًا وَاجْنُبْنِي وَبَنِيَّ أَنْ نَعْبُدَ الأصْنَامَ (٣٥) رَبِّ إِنَّهُنَّ أَضْلَلْنَ كَثِيرًا مِنَ النَّاسِ فَمَنْ تَبِعَنِي فَإِنَّهُ مِنِّي وَمَنْ عَصَانِي فَإِنَّكَ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ (٣٦) رَبَّنَا إِنِّي أَسْكَنْتُ مِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِي بِوَادٍ غَيْرِ ذِي زَرْعٍ عِنْدَ بَيْتِكَ الْمُحَرَّمِ رَبَّنَا لِيُقِيمُوا الصَّلاةَ فَاجْعَلْ أَفْئِدَةً مِنَ النَّاسِ تَهْوِي إِلَيْهِمْ وَارْزُقْهُمْ مِنَ الثَّمَرَاتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَشْكُرُونَ (٣٧) رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ تَعْلَمُ مَا نُخْفِي وَمَا نُعْلِنُ وَمَا يَخْفَى عَلَى اللَّهِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ فِي الأرْضِ وَلا فِي السَّمَاءِ (٣٨) الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي وَهَبَ لِي عَلَى الْكِبَرِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ وَإِسْحَاقَ إِنَّ رَبِّي لَسَمِيعُ الدُّعَاءِ (٣٩)رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلاةِ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِي رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ (٤٠)رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الْحِسَابُ (٤١)

35. Dan (ingatlah), ketika Ibrahim berdoa, “Ya Tuhanku, jadikanlah negeri ini (Mekah), negeri yang aman[1], dan jauhkanlah aku beserta anak cucuku agar tidak menyembah berhala[2].
36. Ya Tuhanku, berhala-berhala itu telah menyesatkan banyak dari manusia[3]. Barang siapa mengikutiku[4], maka orang itu termasuk golonganku[5], dan barang siapa mendurhakaiku, maka Engkau Maha Pengampun lagi Maha Penyayang[6].
37. Ya Tuhan kami, sesungguhnya aku telah menempatkan[7] sebagian keturunanku[8] di lembah yang tidak mempunyai tanam-tanaman[9] di dekat rumah Engkau (Baitullah) yang dihormati, Ya Tuhan kami (yang demikian itu) agar mereka mendirikan shalat[10], maka jadikanlah hati sebagian manusia cenderung[11] kepada mereka[12] dan berilah mereka rezeki dari buah-buahan[13], mudah-mudahan mereka bersyukur.
38. Ya Tuhan kami, sesungguhnya Engkau mengetahui apa yang kami sembunyikan dan apa yang kami tampakkan; [14]dan tidak ada sesuatu pun yang tersembunyi bagi Allah, baik yang ada di bumi maupun yang ada di langit.
39. Segala puji bagi Allah yang telah menganugerahkan kepadaku di hari tua(ku) Ismail dan Ishaq[15]. Sungguh, Tuhanku benar-benar Maha Mendengar (memperkenankan) doa.
