Crystal Palace 1-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report, Aug 2025
After a turbulent time with the CAS ruling, and unhelpful language from Steve Parish, Selhurst Park was full of Palace fans wanting to get one over on Forest, but more specifically Evangelos Marinakis. For nearly an hour it looked like they would get their wish as the home team grabbed the lead and Forest struggled to get involved, but once Callum Hudson-Odoi levelled, Forest arguably looked more likely, with Igor Jesus and Omari Hutchinson coming close before a late Palace effort was saved. Steven Toplis and Tom Newton report on the game, that banner and...

Nottingham Forest 0-1 Chelsea: The 1865 Match Report, May 2025
Despite the monumental achievement of European football, there was a palpable sense of disappointment at the City Ground as the Reds failed to qualify for the Champions' League, even though other results went the way that we needed them to. In truth, Chelsea had the extra nous to get over the line, and Chris Wood missed two very preventable chances in a match where neither keeper was particularly tested. Steven Toplis and Tom Newton pick themselves up to analyse the game and we are joined by Nick from That Chelsea Podcast for a view from the opposition.

Nottingham Forest v Chelsea Match Review
It wasn’t to be as Nottingham Forest failed to capitalise on results elsewhere and finished the season with a home defeat to Champions League challengers, Chelsea. Unlikelydefeats for Aston Villa and Newcastle opened the door for the The Reds but a lacklustre second half saw Chelsea score early and Forest failed to really cause any problems to Robert Sanchez’s goal. But let us not forget – Nottingham Forest have qualified for Europe next season. The UEFA Conference League represents real progress and a genuine chance to add silverware to the trophy cabinet. Maybe, it’s the little s...

Yes, Nottingham Forest welcome fellow former European Cup champions, Aston Villa to the City Ground on Saturday, and I think its fair to say that whilst both are proud of their glittering past, each club are definitely enjoying the present day action in equal abundance. For the second time in a few days, a promising display by the Reds but a controversial late winner - but the way that this one went in makes Wednesday's goal look just fine. In case you missed it, Forest were attacking the Liverpool area in stoppage time, when the ref stopped play for a head injury (hmmm) and erroneously gave the ball to the away team, stopping the Reds' attack and allowing Liverpool to pile on the pressure, which ended in Darwin Nunez's goal.A very angry Steven Toplis is joined by a "f***ing furious"...

Despite a decent showing in the first half, Freddie Woodman's save from Antony Knockaert meant that Forest once again failed to score; then when Connor Roberts inexplicably out-jumped Sammy Ameobi, we just knew that we were up against it. The second half saw Swansea's back three hold firm, preventing Forest from having any meaningful efforts. It all boils down to composure; Knockaert could have done better with his first half effort, and all over the pitch, the Forest players seemed to want an extra half-second or another touch. Playing catch-up: Middlesbrough 1-0 Nottingham Forest - The 1865 Forest Ramble Podcast
If Chris Hughton’s first job was to steady the ship, this match shows that there has been some progress but there is still a lot of work to do, especially in the opposition half. There were never going to be too many chances in this match, but Forest really struggled in the second half against a Boro side with a four-month head start on them, in terms of organisation, playing culture and style. Hughton is obviously working on Forest’s soft centre, but there is still more to be done, and the next problem is to get t...

Reds' endeavour: Luton Town 1-1 Nottingham Forest - The 1865 Forest Ramble Podcast
At half-time it looked a bit bleak, and a few Forest fans were rather despondent as the Reds were a goal down and a man down. Whatever the arguments about Nicolas Ioannou's red card, the inescapable fact was that Forest were down to ten men and would need to find a way to get a result. There were also a few wags commenting that Forest players couldn't see each other in the grey camo kit... It was rather pleasing to know that Forest could find a level of performance and resilience that was lacking over the last...

It's a Knockaert: Nottingham Forest 1-1 Derby County - The 1865 Forest Ramble Podcast
On the face of it, it was a fair result, but Derby weren't happy after their disallowed goal, which stole the headlines. In truth, the Rams were probably the better team for most of the first half, and the latter stages of the second, but Forest did plug away and deservedly drew level when the excellent Lyle Taylor showed a real striker's instinct (and real eloquence in his post-match interview). Chris Hughton acknowledged that the performance mirrored that against Rotherham, but the talking point for Reds fans was 4-4-2. Grabban and Taylor were paired together in...

"Exactly what they deserved - nothing": Barnsley 1-0 Nottingham Forest mini match report
Barnsley 1-0 Nottingham Forest That was bad, wasn't it? A match which Forest not only deserved to lose, but in which they were abject and incapable of stringing two passes together. Fair play to Barnsley, they played well and were deserved victors. Only Sabri Lamouchi would know why he chose an unfamiliar formation, but no-one will know why all the players were so bad; second-choice goalkeeper Jordan Smith was the only player to come out of this one with the slightest bit of credit. Once again, #nffc succumbed to a late goal, which does not...
