54. Stephen Stanko
Stephen Stanko’s life was seemingly derailed after he failed to earn an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy after high school. This failure triggered a change in his behavior where he soon resorted to petty crimes which eventually escalated to rape and murder. The reason for his sudden leap to kill remains somewhat of a mystery - Stanko refused to testify and his defense team tried to reason that Stanko’s brain was “defective,” hoping to convince the jury to rule in favor of an insanity plea. Stanko currently sits on death row at Broad River Correctional Institut...

Fritz Haarmann, the Butcher of Hanover, murdered at least 27 young boys and teenagers between 1918 and 1924 in the city of Hanover but the actual number of victims is most likely higher. He would lure runaways and sex workers back to his apartment with offers of a hot meal and somewhere comfortable to sleep but once the door closed, Haarmann turned deadly. He would attack them, strangling and beating them before biting each boy on the neck through the windpipe in what Haarmann later sickeningly referred to as a “love bite.” For years, he was able to avoid suspicion because he was cons...

32. Leonarda Cianciulli
Leonarda Cianciulli, known as “The Soap-Maker of Correggio,” had a volatile childhood and lived in fear that the predictions of a fortune-teller who told her that every single one of her children would die, would actually come true. When her oldest son, Guiseppe, was drafted into the Italian Army ahead of the country’s entrance into World War II, Leonarda decided that, in order to protect her son from harm, she needed to offer up a human sacrifice, hoping that God would accept the death of someone else in place of her son. Robert Berdella, known as The Butcher of Kansas City, brutally tortured and killed at least six young men between 1984 and 1987. After years of bullying as a child, the sudden loss of his father at age 16, being sexually assaulted by a co-worker as a teenager, Berdella was not mentally or emotionally equipped for everyday life. His trauma eventually manifested in violent fantasies of rape and torture to the point where he could not foster healthy relationships. Instead he kidnapped young male sex workers and turned them into his “playtoys,” by torturing them with electric shocks, injecting drain cleaners into their eyes, and...

Melanie covers the grotesque case of Joe Metheny, a serial killer who preyed on drug addicts and prostitutes and then to hide the evidence, he used parts of his victims to create burger patties for his open-pit beef stand. This case will make your stomach do flip-flops because not only did he turn his victims into meat patties, he also sold these flesh burgers to unsuspecting customers who stopped by his roadside food stand near Baltimore, Maryland. After he was arrested, he began his confession by telling...

In the United States, the name John Justin Bunting and the Snowtown Murders may not be a household name, unlike Ted Bundy or Jeffrey Dahmer, and you might even shrug your shoulders, not knowing anything about him or the murders. But if you were in Australia, you’d get a completely different reaction. Bunting, along with his accomplices Robert Wagner, James Vlassakis, and Mark Haydon, tortured and killed at least 11 people during the 1990s in South Australia. The horrific murders would become known as The Snowtown Murders or the Bodies in Barrels murders because of how and where the remains of...

After spending over a year in a psychiatric hospital, Charlie was released into the custody of his father.
