Apple navigates Trump’s tariffs
US President Donald Trump’s announcement of “reciprocal” tariffs caused havoc in the markets, notably hitting Big Tech stocks such as Apple. The company lost more than $300bn in market value the next day, and its path forward is complicated. The FT’s San Francisco correspondent Michael Acton explains why the iPhone maker is vulnerable, and what options it has to minimise the damage.Clips from PBSNewshour, C-SPAN- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

In Maine, residents slice through thick ice to keep a tradition from melting away
Ice harvesting was a thriving industry in the 19th century, employing tens of thousands of workers in New England alone. Big blocks of ice were removed with jagged-toothed saws from frozen rivers, lakes and ponds, packed in sawdust, and shipped around the world. Having access to ice year-round changed the way people kept and ate food. Then came the advent of electric refrigeration. Cutting natural ice by hand became virtually obsolete. But there are still a few places where the tradition is carried on, like in South Bristol, Maine.

Sánchez and her assistants Josué Martínez Alcántara and Fernando Gonzalez Buenrostro shadowed the civilian group Las Rastreadoras de El Fuerte, or The El Fuerte Trackers, as they searched the desert for “clandestine graves” of missing loved ones. In this stereo excerpt of the sound installation, you can hear the audible crunch of the group's footsteps and the metallic clangs of shovels hitting the dirt. Audio p...
