Die Rolle des Wildtiers in seinem natürlichen Lebensraum, Räuber–Beute–Beziehungen, die Bedeutung des Rehs beim Verbiss von Jungpflanzen und Gefahren für den Straßenverkehr sind einige der Untersuchungsschwerpunkte. In den letzten Jahren hat es sich bewährt, Telemetriehalsbänder beim Reh einzusetzen, um somit das räumliche Verhalten analysieren zu können. Zu diesen Zwecken ist Fang und direkte Manipulation der Tiere erforderlich.
