On The Road
Acts 8:26-31 (Common English Bible) An angel from the Lord spoke to Philip, “At noon, take the road that leads from Jerusalem to Gaza.” (This is a desert road.) So he did. Meanwhile, an Ethiopian man was on his way home from Jerusalem, where he had come to worship. He was a eunuch and an official responsible for the entire treasury of Candace. (Candace is the title given to the Ethiopian queen.) He was reading the prophet Isaiah while sitting in his carriage. The Spirit told Philip, “Approach this carriage and stay with it.” Running up to the carriage, Philip heard th...

Depression; It’s OK to NOT Be OK w/Joseph Greeson February 11th, 2018
In the sixth week of our Sunday Series, Guest Speaker Joseph Greeson speaks about the debilitating issue of depression, and suicide. The companion scripture of Psalm 42 also shows us, even way back then, people who loved God and were loved by God, sometimes felt desperately alone, and wrestled with depression. A bonus of the Randy Stonehill Song "Broken Places" puts a beautiful finish on this difficult message. Credit to Menlo Park Presbyterian Church and John Ortberg for the inspiration and roadmap. For these young people, "the establishment" which included the church, seemed irrelevant. At times it felt like the very fabric of our nation might tear apart. It was out of this tumultuous era that young, musical voices began to surface. These newly converted musicians began singing about the new hope they had found through Jesus Christ.

Through the Glass Darkly
This song is another cover by Randy Stonehill, from his 1980 album The Sky Is Falling, and has always been one of my favorite songs. It's also a bit of a departure for me: longer, more parts, more effects, more intricate, and so on; I spent a lot more time on this than any of my previous songs -- just over a year -- and far more than any of the other covers, which were each done in a day. This title of the song is a reference to 1 Corinthians 13:12, "For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then...
