１人目は、競泳の井本直歩子さんです。井本さんは現在、ユニセフ（国連児童基金）の職員として活躍しています。10代の頃、水泳で海外遠征をしたとき、選手間の貧富の差を感じ、将来は貧しい人のために働きたいと思ったそうです。高校の頃から勉強も頑張り、引退後は米国に留学し、国際機関職員への道を拓きました。

チェン・スユウ選手は1989年生まれ、国立台湾體育運動大学を卒業後、台湾女子サッカーリーグ、ムーランリーグの台北SCSC、台中ブルーホエールでプレー、ナショナルチームの正ゴールキーパー、ツァイ・ミンロン選手の怪我を受け、2018年からは、ナショナルチームでも正ゴールキーパーとして活躍しています。
そして、昨年、2人の台湾選手と共に、日本女子サッカーリーグ、チャレンジリーグWESTの「岡山湯郷(ゆのごう)ベル」に入団しました。チェン選手は主力としてリーグ戦、カップ戦合わせ10試合に出場、今年から新たにスタートするプロ選手によるリーグ「ウィーリーグ」のジェフユナイテッド市原・千葉レディースへ移籍を果たしました。

続いてお送りするのはバレーボールの話題です。昨年の10月末に開幕した、台湾最高峰のリーグ「トップバレーボールリーグ」は、レギュラーシーズンが終了、今日27日からプレーオフが行われています。
では、まずはレギュラーシーズンの最終順位をご紹介しましょう。レギュラーシーズンは全24試合が終了、男子は台湾電力が無敗、24連勝で1位となりました。2位は台中ロングパワーで15勝9敗、3位は11勝13敗の雲林MIZUNO、4位と5位は5勝19敗で2チームが並びましたが、対戦成績で桃園台湾産物保険が4位に滑り込み、コンティは最下位の5位となりました。
女子は、台湾電力が22勝2敗で1位、2位は2チームが14勝10敗で並んだものの、2位が中国人繊、3位が台北キングホエールとなりました。そして、4位は7勝17敗のトップスピード、最下位5位の愛山林は、3勝21敗でした。
そして、今日27日からプレーオフが始まっています。プレーオフはまず、レギュラーシーズンの1位チームと4位チーム、同2位チームと同3位チームが戦い、その試合の勝者同士が、3試合2勝先勝制でファイナルを戦う、というレギュレーションです。
なお、今日27日の午後、プレーオフの第1試合が終わり、女子のレギュラーシーズン1位の台湾電力が、同4位のトップスピードにセットカウント3対1で勝利、ファイナル進出を決めています。
男女のプレーオフ及びファイナルの結果につきましては、来週のこのコーナーでご紹介いたします。ご期待ください。

続いては、台湾プロ野球の話題です。台湾プロ野球のフーボン・ガーディアンズは25日、現在フリーエージェントとなっているMAX159キロ右腕、ジャン・シャオチン投手と、練習生契約に当たる契約を結びました。また、今年の6月末ないし7月の初旬に行われるドラフト会議で、「いの一番」の指名権をもつガーディアンズは、ドラフト会議でジャン投手を指名することも明らかにしました。
ジャン投手は1993年、東部、花蓮県出身の27歳です。高校卒業後、アメリカ大リーグのクリーブランド・インディアンスと契約、2018年、2019年と3Aでプレーし、大リーグまであと一歩のところまで来ていました。
また、2019年のオフは、中華民国台湾のナショナルチームのエースとして、東京オリンピック予選を兼ねたプレミア12に出場し、活躍しました。昨年はデトロイト・タイガースと契約も、大リーグ昇格はならず、マイナーリーグが中止となり、アピールができないまま、11月にフリーエージェントとなっていました。
ジャン投手の元にはこのオフ、日米9球団からのオファーが届いていたということですが、ガーディアンズは昨年の12月初旬、今年のドラフト会議の「いの一番」での指名権獲得が決まると、ジャン投手側にオファー、台湾プロ野球史上最大級の契約という「誠意」を見せたことで、ジャン投手のガーディアンズ入りが決定しました。正式な指名、契約はドラフト会議の後となりますが、大物右腕の台湾プロ野球入りに、野球ファンは湧いています。
なお、新型コロナウイルスの影響もあり、現在、台湾では、ジャン投手のほか、数多くの代表クラスの選手がフリーエージェントとなっています。また、昨シーズン、家庭の事情から千葉ロッテマリーンズを退団したチェン・グアンユウ投手も、今年の台湾プロ野球のドラフト会議に参加します。チェン投手は、ガーディアンズ入りが有力視されていましたが、ガーディアンズがジャン投手獲得を表明したことで、指名順位2位の樂天モンキーズ、もしくは指名順位3位の中信兄弟などから指名される可能性が高くなりました。
今シーズンの台湾プロ野球は、味全ドラゴンズの一軍参入に加え、後期は大物選手のドラフト参加と目が離せません。既にリーグ主催のオープン戦は昨日26日からスタートしており、公式戦は3月13日に開幕します。楽しみですね。

おしまいに、バスケットボールの話題です。今シーズン、新たに発足した男子のプロリーグ、プラスリーグのここまでの順位をご紹介しましょう。24試合行われるレギュラーシーズンは後半戦に入り、ここまで各チーム13試合から15試合消化、1位は11勝3敗の台北フーボンブレーブス、2位は8勝6敗の桃園パイロッツ、3位は6勝7敗のフォルモサタイシンドリーマーズ、そして最下位、4位は3勝12敗で、新竹JKOライオニアーズとなっています。
プレーオフはレギュラーシーズンの2位チーム、3位チームが対戦、その勝者が、ファイナルで、レギュラーシーズン1位チームに挑戦するというレギュレーションで行われます。最下位のライオニアーズ、まだまだ諦めずに上位チームにくらいついていってほしいですね。
