Coco Gauff's character got tested today and she failed miserably. Today we got a chance to see what she was all about, and (spoiler art) it was not much. Bencic x Jabeur final, rematch of Charleston final and the third meeting of the year. Maria Sakkari thinks she's good and that is a huge problem for the world. Two really good draws and 1R action starting on a Sunday. An overlap of the two tennis weeks is never pretty, but I'm not complaining.

Her SF clash vs Simo Halep is a HUGE test for both players, just to see what they are really about. Despite Bencic's good results, she is still on fraud watch, and her match tomorrow vs Sakkari will tell us everything. There were some good performances today: Kudermetova, Alexandrova, Martincova, Riske. Sabalenka clutched a 3S tiebreak against the Ostrich, in a match that shouldn't have been that complicated. Alexandrova looks like she is nearing 'final form', and it could be scary, not for her though. WTA Qualis tomorrow in Birmingham and Berlin, those are our two grass tournaments for next week.

Should be good!!!2022-06-031h 07The Saif SpaceWTA Roland Garros - SFThe HUGE difference between quality, competitiveness, and overall level of the WTA/ATP in these matches is HUGE. Rublev x Cilic was sensational, and Rune x Ruud was quite good. Out of the 4 QFs, that was the weakest one, but overall it has been GIVING! Cilic is looking dangerously good, and I like him to make the final. He has certainly been one of the best players this fortnight and would be worthy of a spot in the final. Kasatkina somehow keeps winning matches, and Iga was tested but it somehow wasn't even close.2022-06-021h 13The Saif SpaceWTA/ATP Roland Garros - QF Day 2I think Novak Djokovic will agree, but I was stunned by Nadal's level to start the match. Nadal gets one back over Novak, bringing their H2H to 30-29 in favor of Nole. Zverev with a very good win, and gets Nadal next; I like an upset there. Coco Gauff beats Sloane, and Martina Trevisan keeps winning. I like an upset there too, that's our first WTA SF. Iga x Pegula tomorrow should be very good, same with Kasatkina x Kudermetova. Rune and Cilic could be the semifinal we never knew we needed.2022-06-0144 minThe Saif SpaceWTA/ATP Roland Garros - QF Day 1Holger Rune is the second teenager to have his coming out party vs Stefanos at a grand slam. The other teenager was 18 year old Carlitos at last year's USO. Cilic plays the best match of his life, Casper Ruud somehow keeps winning. Qinwen Zheng, my first love, took a set off Iga, and really gave her a big test that Iga didn't quite pass in the first set. Pegula is quietly through to the QF, same with Kasatkina (not so quietly, because of her obnoxious fans (She has fans?!?!?!?)).

Sloane won 12 games in a row for the second time this week. Trevisan has now won 9 matches in a row, and 16 sets in a row. Leylah Fernandez and Coco Gauff aren't worth talking about, but I still spent an extended amount of time talking about them. Carlitos continues to impress, what can we expect from him? TOMORROW, we have a BLOCKBUSTER day of tennis, with an absolutely fantastic slate and mouth-watering matchups from top to bottom.

Noskova x Raducanu was amazing, same with Tomljanovic x Kontaveit and Kerber x Frech. A lot of good performances. Tomorrow's slate unfortunately looks really rough, but it will be nice to see Sabalenka win 60 60. Watch out for Sherif x Kostyuk, Ostapenko x Bronzetti, and Martincova x Rogers, as well as Juvan x Selekhmeteva, those are my guesses for potential matches of the day tomorrow.
