Ballynahinch Congregational ChurchMorning Sermon - 26th July 2026 - Putting God First: Lessons from HaggaiThis morning's sermon is delivered by Mr. David Colvin.
Preaching from Haggai chapter 1, Mr David Colvin explores how the returned exiles neglected the rebuilding of the temple in favour of their own houses, and how God called them to reconsider their priorities. He draws out the danger of a 'prosperity gospel' misreading of the covenant blessings, while affirming a biblical principle that God honours those who honour him. Mr Colvin applies the message to today's believers, urging that we, as the temple of the Holy Spirit, put God first in worship, service and daily life.

Yet the Bible reminds us again and again that God’s greatest work often begins with quiet obedience. Ananias never sought recognition, yet his willingness to obey God helped shape the future of the church. One of those is durability.Samuel Colvin, Creator of Pydantic AI, joins Hugo to talk about applying battle-tested software engineering principles to b...

While people often judge by outward appearance, God looks at the heart. Through David’s story, we’re reminded that being overlooked by others doesn’t mean being overlooked by God.
