Ο κ. Τζιάρρας κατέχει διδακτορικό τίτλο στην Πολιτική και τις Διεθνείς Σπουδές από το Πανεπιστήμιο του Warwick, του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου, με θέμα την τουρκική εξωτερική πολιτική υπό το Κόμμα Δικαιοσύνης και Ανάπτυξης (AKP).
Είναι κάτοχος πτυχιακού τίτλου στις Μεσογειακές Σπουδές από το Πανεπιστήμιο Αιγαίου στην Ελλάδα και μεταπτυχιακού τίτλου στις Διεθνείς Σχέσεις και τις Στρατηγικές Σπουδές από το Πανεπιστήμιο του Birmingham του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου. Έχει παρακολουθήσει κύκλο σεμιναρίων ειδίκευσης, μεταπτυχιακού επιπέδου, στη Διεθνή Ασφάλεια στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Δελχί στην Ινδία, κύκλο ειδικών εκπαιδευτικών σεμιναρίων στην Ηγεσία και Επίλυση Συγκρούσεων στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κοτς της Κωνσταντινούπολης, ενώ κατέχει πιστοποιητικό Διαχείρισης Συγκρούσεων & Διαμεσολάβησης.
Εργάστηκε επί σειρά ετών σε διάφορα πανεπιστήμια και ερευνητικά κέντρα στην Κύπρο και το εξωτερικό, ενώ υπήρξε μεταδιδακτορικός υπότροφος στο Τμήμα Κοινωνικών και Πολιτικών Επιστημών του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου με ερευνητικό αντικείμενο την τουρκική εξωτερική πολιτική. Είναι συνιδρυτής της πλατφόρμας Geopolitical Cyprus και μέλος της συντακτικής επιτροπής της επιθεώρησης New Middle Eastern Studies.

Ο κ. Παναγιωτίδης είναι συγγραφέας των μονογραφιών Categorial Features και Pronouns, Clitics and Empty Nouns, έχει επίσης δημοσιεύσει πλήθος άρθρων σε διεθνή περιοδικά και σε συλλογικούς τόμους. Έχει παρουσιάσει πάνω από 180 ανακοινώσεις και ομιλίες σε μια ευρεία γκάμμα θεμάτων που εκτείνεται από ζητήματα δομής της νοητικής γραμματικής, γραμματικών χαρακτηριστικών και ανάλυσης της ονοματικής φράσης μέχρι τη γλωσσική κατάκτηση, τη διαλεκτολογία και τη γλωσσική πολιτική.
Το εκλαϊκευτικό βιβλίο του «Μίλα μου για γλώσσα» εκδόθηκε από τις Πανεπιστημιακές Εκδόσεις Κρήτης τον Νοέμβριο του 2013. Τον Φεβρουάριο του 2018 προσέφερε το ανοιχτό μάθημα Τι είναι γλώσσα; Από τη νόηση στη φωνή μέσω της διαδικτυακής πλατφόρμας Mathesis. Και το 2021 κυκλοφόρησε το βιβλίο του «Μέσα από τις λέξεις» από τις Εκδόσεις του 21ου.
Η συνέντευξη παραχωρήθηκε στη Μαρίζα Λαμπίρη, Λειτουργό Α, Επικεφαλής του Γραφείου Επικοινωνίας και Δημοσίων Σχέσεων του Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου.
