Synopsis
The Shechinah did not rest in the Mishkan until the eighth day of its inauguration, when they brought the sin-offering calf in atonement for the sin of the golden calf [as it says in Sheini of parashas Shemini]. The erev rav made the golden calf not in denial of Hashem’s existence, but as an “intermediary” between Hashem and the Jewish people, because they erroneously thought that Hashem is too high for a mere mortal dealing with worldly matters to have a direct connection with Him; specifically by negating this notion – by taking a calf and burning it as a an offering for holiness, the Shechinah was able to dwell in the Mishkan. "Six years you shall sow your field... but in the seventh year shall be a Shabbat of solemn rest for the land, a Shabbat for Hashem" (Vayikra 25:3-4). We already established, as it is written, "but in the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow" (Shemot 23:11). What is the reason? "That the poor of your people may eat" (Ibid.). For the poor are associated with that place, MALCHUT, DENOTING THE SABBATICAL YEAR; therefore, leave it to them to eat. Consequently, one who shows mercy for the poor contributes peace to the Congregation of Yisrael, AS THE POOR ARE ASSOCIATED WITH IT. He multiplies blessings in the world and gives joy and strength to the place called 'righteousness,' DENOTING MALCHUT, by pouring blessings on the Congregation of Yisrael. This has been explained.

In this country, “advertising” stands at the forefront of everything, and it is difficult to get people to fully invest themselves into something without giving them publicity for it etc. etc. Today, when the work of bringing “the essence of the Shechinah to the lower realms” takes place primarily in the United States, it must be done whether it gets publicized or not – the main thing is to actually make it happen here and now.
