Renting an Apartment
As with most people, I think that buying a house is as difficult as hitting the first prize in the lottery. Nope, it is even more difficult than hitting the first prize in the lottery.
That is the reason why I think I don't have much hope of buying a house.
Half a month ago, my landlord told me something. She said it was time to extend our contract, but she was going to raise my rent from $1400 to $1700 a month, starting the next month. She said this was because the overall price of the house was appreciating, and there was no room for bargaining.
I was in shock that this kind of apartment in the countryside was still renting for $1700 a month!
Was there some kind of mistake?
The landlord said there was no mistake and I had to pay every cent.
Realizing that rising rental prices is an undeniable fact, I wondered why not move to the city? First, I could rent a bigger apartment near my job and split the rent with somebody else. This would also allow me to save on travel expenses and spend less time commuting between my apartment and work, thus, killing two birds with one stone.
