MixchemistKundalini (Mix)(( Deep Funky House ))
I'm back for the second installment of "The Yoga" deep funky house series. Kundalini actually was originally put together back in January 2013, but the final cut really wasn't finished until now. I have to say that deep house is really tricky to mix and like Dharma Beats, it took a lot of trial and error before I got the mix sounding the way I wanted it to. This track was developed as a joint effort with my brother Stacy Osorio. I was going to originally place our pseudonyms Phunkmonk and Mixchemist as the producers of the track, but thought it would be better as a stand alone track by Stacy Osorio with my remix touch instead.
The working draft was called "Jackin Hipster" and it was more of an offshoot for us as we delved into using 128's as per the "ill Gates" method. I stripped the original of the drums and added a harder hitting ensemble, and then worked in filter and delays...2013-04-1304 min

I managed to procure this project by arranging within Ableton Live then by using it as the master sequencer, I dropped sample accurate cuts through my MPC 2000 XL. Extra synth and bass richness were also injected by using my Roland 909 groove box. This mix is a hybrid experimentation both "in" and "out of the box" and was inspired by watching my brother Stacy Osorio work the MPC in the studio when he stayed with me recently. Funky Beat Astronaut is a funky mixture of "street" House with a hint of disco and a peppering of breaks. I toiled with remixing/editing the track arrangement for about a week before I dropped them in Ableton to mix and mash up. If you are familiar with the tracks selected in the play-list, you'll noticed I edited them, and in some cases completely re-arrange tracks to preserve flow-energy within the set.
