SUNDAY SERVICE // The Scarlet Cord // Steve Adshead
In the same way we also cannot be saved by simply knowing who God is, or even by knowing a lot about God, or even by doing stuff for God, or by thinking that just because God is merciful that He will save me anyway. No, we must display - for all to see, both our faith and our works, because on judgement day God is only looking for those people who are displaying the scarlet cord.

SUNDAY SERVICE // You Are The Light // Steve Adshead
So, in summary we must be the light of the world, we must demonstrate the light of the world, and we must remain in the light of the world.“You are the light of the World” We are not Jesus, but if Jesus lives in us, and if we remain in Him, we will be totally unable to hide that fact. Then we will shine like Jesus and we will be “The light of the world” that Jesus asked us to be.

SUNDAY SERVICE // Raising Lazarus // Steve Adshead
If we confess with our mouths and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we will be saved. The seven miracles in John give us all the evidence we need to be certain that Jesus is who He says He is. Make sure your story ends in life. “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord WILL be saved”

SUNDAY SERVICE // Healing the Lame Man // Steve Adshead
This miracle demonstrates Jesus authority over time. Just because the man had been ill for 38 years did not mean that he was beyond saving, just because we have long standing problems we have in our lives does not mean that Jesus cannot deal with them.

SUNDAY SERVICE // Healing the Officials Son // Steve Adshead
The miracle of the healing of the Officials son shows that Jesus has authority over distance. He is Lord over all of creation, He has no need to be present and healing can take place anywhere that God so chooses. By faith, when we pray, we should take time to listen to what God is saying, perhaps one day He will ask you to pray into a situation you know nothing about. When He does, and you see the results, you will be both amazed and encouraged.

SUNDAY SERVICE // 7 Miracles Intro // Steve Adshead
Today we are starting a new series, which will run for the next 8 or so weeks. Over this time we are going to be looking at the Gospel of John and in particular the seven miracles that John writes about. With our Pastor Andy away it is going to fall to myself and Jamie to cover most of these. This week I am going to do an introduction with a broad overall picture of the Gospel so that over the next 7 weeks we can place the miracles into a proper context.

SUNDAY SERVICE // Hope of the Resurrection // Steve Adshead
The man knew what he had done and he knew what the consequences were. An unbridgeable gap had opened up, he now had a finite life, after which he would for ever be on the wrong side of that gap for ever. I think if I had been in that situation I would have been utterly without hope.

Greatest man in history; … had no servants, yet they called him Master. Had no degree, yet they called him Teacher. Had no medicines, yet they called him Healer. He had no army, yet kings feared Him. The following day the contrast could not have been more marked. It was cold and wet and windy. Thoroughly miserable. I remember that Autumn had truly arrived. BEACON // The End // Steve Adshead
It is sometimes said that “All good things must come to an end” This thought seems to be rooted in our very British opinion that we don't deserve to have good things. We need to have something to moan about and that won't happen if things in our life are good. Well right now one good thing is coming to and end, and that is the beacons.

Dates; the wonderful thing about the English language is that one word can have two very different meanings. BEACON // Keep On Praying // Steve Adshead
One of the questions that Christians frequently ask is “Why doesn't God answer my prayers?” You know that feeling, you ask for something, you feel it is right to do so, you ask repeatedly over a period of time and still nothing happens. This can be disheartening or discouraging, it can lead to doubts or even a loss of faith, so it is important to understand why this sometimes happens..

BEACON // Keep On Running // Steve Adshead
It is always sad when someone passes away. For close family or friends the loss is felt the most, for more distant family or friends less so but there will still be a time of mourning or reflection. For most of the rest of us we might not even know someone has died, the only way of knowing is if we happen to see a report in the newspaper or perhaps, in this modern age, in a facebook post.

If there is one household chore that really seems to divide opinions it is ironing. I quite like it, albeit in small doses, my wife however hates it and would rather I do all of it. Ironing comes at the end of the laundry process. First the clothes have to be washed, made clean, with all the stains removed. Then they have to be dried, carefully, to avoid too many creases. And lastly the ironing, folding and putting them away, ready to use again.
