Ouderen hebben steeds breder sociaal netwerk van niet-familieledenHuidige generaties van ouderen hebben een steeds breder sociaal netwerk met meer niet-familieleden, zoals vrienden en kennissen. Zij hebben die ook nog steeds na hun 75e jaar, terwijl dit niet geldt voor de oudere generaties van ouderen. Dit komt onder andere door een hoger opleidingsniveau en een beter cognitief functioneren van de huidige generaties ouderen. Dat blijkt uit het promotieonderzoek van Bianca Suanet. Verder doen jongere ouderen van 55-64 jaar tegenwoordig steeds vaker vrijwilligerswerk.
