#2,522 - SPD will no longer send officers to alarm calls without active evidence of crime
As the Seattle Police Department (SPD) navigates ways to hire new officers, it has had to make decisions about where to send its remaining staff. According to a letter from SPD Interim Chief of Police Sue Rahr, starting October 1, the department will only send officers to calls from alarm companies that have evidence — audio, video, panic alarms or eyewitnesses, etc. — that a person is illegally entering or trying to enter a home or business.

#2,386 - Chicago BANS Protestors at DNC by Denying and Delaying Permits
The City of Chicago is effectively barring protestors from the Democratic National Convention (DNC) by denying and delaying permits. Despite allowing Black Lives Matter and Antifa protests without permits during the 2020 lockdown, Chicago now refuses permits for groups wanting to demonstrate at the DNC. The Department of Transportation has only recently turned over some permit applications, while other city agencies remain non-compliant. Protestors argue this is a deliberate stalling tactic to prevent lawful demonstrations. Legal battles continue as multiple groups sue the city, alleging unconstitutional actions. This double standard highlights the inconsistency in handling protests based on political alignment...

#2,383 - Seattle now has lowest number of police officers since 1958 as crime explodes
Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell announced Wednesday the city will be hiring 18 additional behavioral health responders after securing nearly $2 million in federal funding. The new responders will be part of the Community Assisted Response Engagement (CARE) department, which started in October. CARE was implemented to “diversify emergency response, help people in need receive appropriate assistance and ensure the highest priority incidents receive critical police and fire services,” as stated by the mayor’s office. CARE responders are sent out after a 911 call taker determines one would be appropriate for the situat...

#2,234 - San Francisco lawmakers want to let city residents sue grocery stores that close down
In San Francisco, a baffling proposal by local lawmakers now allows residents to sue grocery stores that decide to close, adding another layer of absurdity to the city's already contentious relationship with its business community. This measure comes in response to a series of store closures due to safety concerns and rampant shoplifting, including a notable Whole Foods shutdown after a mere year of operation. The proposed legislation, aimed at combating the consequences of the city's drug and homelessness crises, demands a six-month notice before a store can close, under the guise of preserving local access to food. Critics...

#2,083 - TEXAS Takes On Feds: The Showdown Over Illegal Immigration Arrests!
The U.S. Department of Justice is threatening to sue Texas over its new immigration law, Senate Bill 4, set to take effect in March 2024. This law empowers state police to arrest individuals suspected of illegal border crossing and aims to dismantle sanctuary city policies. As Texas asserts its right to safeguard its borders amidst federal inaction, the DOJ claims the state's measures violate federal jurisdiction established in the landmark United States vs. Arizona case. The conflict underscores a broader national debate on immigration enforcement and the roles of state versus federal authority. Texas Governor Greg Abbott staunchly defends the...

One year later she'd lost over 100lbs and entered her first triathlon still weighing 226lbs. Imagine the courage that took! She continued on her journey, exercis...
