圍繞著新聞媒體內部的權力鬥爭，媒體責任，等主題展開的職場權鬥劇，前面劇情緊湊，後期把重心轉移到每個角色的私生活時，不能更好地和前面提及的職場生涯結合，框架開始鬆散。開場故事有特色有熱度，中間劇情卻像過山車似時好時壞，去到後面才有比較好的收尾。這部又延續TVB近年劇集的質感，TVB在質量上的掌控還是不穩？
好看的部分在於每集前面引用眾多媒體人的金玉良言，劇情裡也通過各種角色對話，新聞例子或場景來強化那些金句論點。保持新聞媒體的學術性，同時又讓普羅大眾看懂聽懂。還有各種的職場法則，老闆的向上管理思維和打工人的職場生存之道，引起很大的共鳴。
角色的權鬥，不擇手段搏上位的情節太誇張，很失真？媒體工作者比救護人員，執法人員速度更快，工作範圍還要大，脫離現實？劇集是戲劇，為了有戲劇效果，誇張失實不是大問題。最大的bug是角色後期的立場轉變太突兀 ，沒有合情合理鋪墊「張家妍」「梁景仁」的角色！
TVB的轉場，鏡頭手法還是老套，十年不變？TVB的作品沒在進步？且慢！看看《新聞女王》沒有什麼三角戀，四角戀…劇情編寫上有往好的方向做出改變？
TVB港劇，還有機會回到以往輝煌的風光？《新聞女王》的整體水平還不足以媲美TVB巔峰時期的佳作？
「Man姊」氣勢強大，佘詩曼的好演技自然不必多說。李施嬅的「張家妍」達到好壞分明的標準。對比之下，其他演員都演得很吃力？
