不过在谈论这首歌曲之前，不得不先赞一下这首歌曲的歌词，虽然没有象其他歌曲那般用到华丽的辞藻，却充满了许多绝妙的比喻，在平铺直叙中却包含了关于人生的自由和孤独，人和人之间的理解和相爱等根本性的问题。主打歌“To Be Free”虽然是站在女性的角度来看待感情问题，但其实是每个人都会碰到的问题，并且词曲俱佳，配器精妙，旋律紧扣Emiliana Torrini情绪，一路唱来，高低起伏，流畅生动。
“End of the Day”的开头更是开创了一个全新的挂碟和吉他组合模式，先是由低沉的吉他和弹跳的节拍来回Loop，稍不留神节拍已然演变成刮碟，没等你听得过瘾，它又恢复成先前的节拍模样了，可过不了多久又一次象球落在地上弹跳一般，这次刮碟才终于露出了真面目参与进来，不安分的电吉他声也悄然响起，但只是露一小脸，随后紧扣刮碟的节奏，随着刮碟声越来越精彩之后电吉他眼看就要完全展现出来，不料这时万般娇柔的Kir声音也恰巧出来了。在唱完了第一小段之后电吉他又再次呼啸而来，但立刻又害羞地躲到后面去了，但节拍随之变得大气更稳重有力，这就是第一小段和第二小段的巧妙变化。在Kir把第二段唱完之后，这时出现了一个安静的停顿，随后Kir大气的歌声才随着轰鸣的电吉他和气势磅礴的节拍一起排山倒海地冲了出来，相当震憾，这一切都要归功于之前的停顿铺垫，虽然只有几秒种，但真是迷死人不偿命，而这么多变化进行到现在才不过1分多的时间！在这段高潮之后，第四段和第五段的过渡则是由刮碟的重叠效果代替先前手法。虽然整首作品歌词很短，只有六小段，但每两小段前后衔接变化都极尽所能，并且每一次都不重复，从高潮的铺垫到释放，一收一放都足见功力。
纽约一向站在时尚和先锋的浪尖，在音乐的潮流上也不例外，只要当几个年轻人走到一起时候，就有可能做出一些意想不到的事情，他们就是“Market”。他们的处女作不仅是一张可以拿来跳舞的缓拍专辑，而且更重要的是扭转了人们最初对“East Coast Hip-Hop”的偏见，并且由此延伸出去更多的听觉空间。当初，British Trip-Hop代表乐队“Massive Attack”和“Portishead”的处女作开始在纽约的电子音乐界产生巨大震动的时候，Market的成员们在这种风格的音乐中却浸淫已久。这四个家伙喜欢在工作室里即兴地创造出一些奇妙的东西来，这种东西融合了不断下沉的节奏、阴暗氛围的采样、爵士味的打击乐，从而营造出一种沙漠中的都市感。
在《Becoming X》这张专辑里，同样是用到了这种手法。歌词里俯仰皆是生活化的口语，但如果你仔细看歌词的意思，感觉却并不轻松，各种负面情绪纠缠交错着，埋怨、自责、忧伤，但我自己最喜欢《Tesko Suicide》，在歌中，Kelli不停鼓励着失意少女走出困境，剪短头发，勇敢往前走，躺下来，一切都已经结束，“Go on girls – solo，Go on girls – take a chance”，Kelli在高潮部分的声音嘹亮高昂，充满自信。
Bronagh有着浓郁的爱尔兰民谣式唱腔，平时喜欢随手写下一些歌词，这一切都不禁让人想起爱尔兰的一支著名乐队“Cranberries”。经过EP的铺垫之后，Crustation终于在1998年发表了自己的正式大碟《Bloom》。专辑的整体风格已经在封套上表达的很清楚：昏暗的光线，孤零零的椅子，班驳的字体，这一切都暗示着这将是一次幽暗的聆听旅程。但因为Bronagh的加入，乐队已经做了调整，早期的实验趋向减弱，取而代之的是更流畅动听的编曲，增加了弦乐和原声吉他的编排，可听性得到了加强。尽管如此。
