几年前, 北京人的家庭要想找一个北京人当保姆, 那是非常困难的事情。可是最近两年, 已经有一部分北京人开始做家庭服务工作。据报纸上说, 全市现在大约有差不多一千人在做保姆, 大部分是下岗女工。她们白天到雇主家里照顾老人, 病人或小孩, 晚上7点左右回自己家。工资每月四五百元, 因为她们不在雇主家住, 工资比外地保姆高一些。因为做服务工作的工资还可以, 现在大中城市不少从工厂, 公司下岗的人开始做这种工作。也还有一部分人觉得做这种工作被人看不起, 所以还没有走出家门。有些已经做了保姆的人, 也不愿意让亲戚, 朋友和邻居知道。
