It's a bit of an experiment, its theatrical roots obvious, some questions left unsatisfyingly unanswered, and it's not until the final act that it takes off. But it's interesting, features strong performances from Michael Shannon (who also played the role on stage) and Ashley Judd, and is essential viewing for anyone interested in Friedkin, Shannon, Judd or Letts.
