Willard approves fire department budget change

Mayor Travis Mote said the funds were already set aside specifically for fire department use and would not impact general taxpayer revenues. Treasurer Cami Moss explained that the adjustment would allow the fire department to meet operational needs without drawing from other parts of the city’s budget. Moss further explained that the restricted fund balance was established through prior years’ budget surpluses dedicated to fire services. The amendment moves the...Art...

The ordinance provides that vehicles parked in a manner that impedes snow removal may be issued a warning, with subsequent citations or towing if violations continue. Council members debated whether to require vehicles to park si...

Willard still debating development agreement for The Orchards
The Willard City Council on March 13 discussed a proposed development agreement for The Orchards at Willard Bay, a master planned community that prompted concerns over zoning consistency, housing density and adherence to the city’s land use vision. “Personally, I would say it’s not consistent with our general plan,” said Mayor Travis Mote, citing the number and size of smaller lots in the proposed layout. The city’s general plan, updated in April 2024, calls for half-acre lots. “If we use the MPC to circumvent the general plan, it’s a bait and switch,” Mote added. “Our subdivision ordinance and our MPC......

Why EQ Matters
