Trinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 82 "Something New" - John 20:10-18The risen Christ is a paradigm shift for the world. In this passage, we are pointed to the revolutionary newness of what comes with the risen Christ. We'll look at the atonement, holiness and glory, which were needed to approach the Lord, and how all of that has been achieved through the cross. We also see a new way to relate to Christ in light of the resurrection.2025-04-2026 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 81 "Signs: The New Garden" - John 18:1-11This passage is a microcosm of the creation, fall, and redemption that we see in the opening chapters of the book of Genesis. Fittingly, Jesus is arrested in a garden. In the first garden, humanity sinned and brought forth death. But in this garden, Jesus will undo that curse and bring forth life as a result of his death at the hands of a sinful world.2025-04-1330 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 80 "Signs: Sight to the Blind" - John 9:1-41In this passage, Jesus heals a man born blind. It's an incredible miracle. The religious leaders refuse to appreciate this miracle or accept the Savior who performed it. This miracle is meant to point to a greater reality that the world is blind- blind to Christ, blind to the gospel, and blind to our own sin. Jesus came to open our eyes to reality.2025-04-0629 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 79 "Signs: Walking on Water" - John 6:16-21Alone at sea after hours of sailing, the disciples see a figure approaching. They’re terrified, but don’t realize that it’s Jesus himself who’s approaching. The most commonly given command in the Bible is to fear not, but this is never commanded in isolation. We’re told not to fear because of who God is. As his people, instead of turning to fear in uncertain situations, we are called to trust the Lord.2025-03-3024 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 78 "Signs: Feeding Multitudes" - John 6:1-15It’s the only miracle that Jesus does in all four Gospels and it leaves people wanting to make Jesus their king and declaring that he’s the Great Prophet to which the Old Testament pointed. Jesus feeds thousands of people with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. And he has leftovers! It’s an incredible sign that Jesus does that shows his power, but it also shows that Jesus has come to fulfill the Old Testament in leading his people in a new exodus of forgiveness from sin.2025-03-2325 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 77 "Signs: Water into Wine" - John 2:1-12Jesus performs his first sign, which manifests his glory. It's an odd introduction to a ministry, but it's an important catalyst to the disciples believing in Jesus.2025-03-1621 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 76 "Power of the Kingdom: Ministry and Miracles" - Matthew 8:1-17After the Sermon on the Mount, the next three events from Jesus are all miracles. In this week’s passage, we look these three miracles, what they mean in the ministry of Jesus, and what they mean for us today.2025-03-0921 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 75 "The Bucket List" - 2 Timothy: 4:1-8They say to live each day like it's your last. In this week's passage, the Apostle Paul knew that he was near the end of his life. And in his final word to his beloved student, Timothy, he gives advice, which also applies to all Christians. Fulfill your ministry!2025-03-0325 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 74 "Power of the Kingdom: Healing the Leper" - Matthew 8:1-4Matthew 8 begins a new major section of this Gospel. Jesus has just finished preaching the Sermon on the Mount. What happens next? We start to see the miraculous power that Jesus has as God on earth. In this section, we see the first miracle which Matthew records. What is that miracle? Is it showing power over nature? No. Is it raising someone from the dead? No. It’s a simple healing of a man with leprosy. But in that simplicity, we see something profound as we begin a new series.2025-02-2326 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 73 "The Rock: Houses and Sand" - Matthew 7:24-29In this final passage of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus talks about building the house of our faith on a good foundation. It’s a passage that will leave us asking, “Is your faith built on sand, or is it built on rock?”2025-02-1623 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 72 "The Rock: Grapes and Thorns" - Matthew 7:13-23Jesus warned that there would be false disciples and false shepherds in the world. In both cases, there can be those who can outwardly appear to be following God but who are inwardly living in opposition to God.2025-02-0223 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 71 "The Rock: Ask, Seek, Knock" - Matthew 7:7-11Up to this point in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus has already talked about prayer. In this passage, he continues on that subject and points to a type of prayer that’s expectant and dependent on the power of a good God. 2025-01-2624 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 70 "The Rock: The Golden Rule" - Matthew 7:1-12Matthew 7 is a vibrant passage that swiftly moves between different relationships we have. In this week’s teaching, we are pointed to our relationships with fellow Christians, with nonbelievers, and with God. The passage ends with one of the classic ethical teachings in all of Christianity, known as the Golden Rule.2025-01-1926 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 69 "The Rock: Specks and Logs" - Matthew 7:1-6In one of the Bible’s most well-known (and often-quoted) verses, Jesus says, “Judge not, that you be not judged.” But what does that mean? Is Jesus saying we should refrain from having moral opinions? Is it wrong to think critically about the actions of others? In this week’s study, we examine what this passage teaches about how we should view ourselves and others.2025-01-1221 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 68 "Unashamed" - Romans 1:16-17The gospel is a message that offends the world, and Christians can sometimes be tempted to water down the message. But as Paul begins his letter to the Romans, he says, “I am not ashamed of the gospel.” This passage gives a great summary of the gospel while also telling us who it’s for and how it works.2025-01-0522 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 67 "The Only Resolution that Matters" - Haggai 1:1-11After losing their land and seeing the temple destroyed, Israel was allowed to return 70 years later. But where Haggai begins, it’s 20 years after the return and the people have yet to begin the new temple. As churches resume services today, it’s easy to focus on the accomplishment of being together again but we have work to do in building up God’s temple, the church.2024-12-2922 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 66 "Forefathers: Judah: The Promise of a Lion" - Genesis 49:8-12The patriarchs of Genesis are Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. These are the direct ancestors in the Messianic genealogy that leads to Jesus. Interestingly, the longest story in the book of Genesis actually involves Joseph, a man who was not a direct ancestor of Jesus. But it’s because of Joseph and his story that the line would be preserved when it faced one of its greatest threats.2024-12-2228 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 65 "Forefathers: Jacob: The Promise of a Nation" - Genesis 32:22-32God works through broken people. Jacob’s life features deception and fraud. But he’s in the line that leads to Christ. As we look at the forefathers of Jesus, we see some unique interactions Jacob has with the Lord.2024-12-1526 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 64 "Forefathers: Isaac: The Promise of a Sacrifice" - Genesis 22:1-19After waiting for 25 years on a promised son, Abraham and his wife, Sarah, had Isaac. But as a young man, the Lord made a request from Abraham that seemed audacious. The Lord asked Abraham to sacrifice this promised son. The Lord would spare Isaac that day in a story that points forward to the true promised Son.2024-12-0826 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 63 "Forefathers: Abraham: The Promise of a Son" - Genesis 15:1-6The Gospel of Matthew begins by saying, “The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.” Abraham and David are two of the central figures of the Old Testament. Jesus comes from the lineage of both of them. In the first part of our new Advent series called “Forefathers,” we look at the covenant God made with Abraham and the generation he spent waiting for the birth of a promised son.2024-12-0123 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 62 "War and Peace" - Ephesians 6:1-10In this beloved passage, we are told to put on the armor of God. This armor both protects us from spiritual attack and prepares us for serving the Lord in a world where spiritual warfare is raging. 2024-11-2426 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 61 "Who is Jesus: The Vine" - John 15:1-5On the night before going to the cross, Jesus told the disciples, "I am the vine, and my father is the vinedresser." Christians grow on the vine, which is Jesus, and bear fruit as a result of God pruning us.2024-11-1027 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 60 "Who is Jesus: The Way, the Truth, and the Life" - John 14:1-7With the cross on the horizon, Jesus tells the disciples, “do not let your heart be troubled.” That is a command which is easier said than done. But Jesus isn’t calling us to stoicism, but to a faith that is grounded in the truth of God and the hope of heaven through the Savior of the world who provides the way there.2024-11-0323 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 59 "Who is Jesus: The Resurrection and the Life" - John 11:1-53Jesus is the resurrection and the life. In this passage, in the closing weeks of his ministry, we see Jesus give life to his friend Lazarus. And in the process, the Pharisees double down on their own efforts to see Jesus crucified. It's fitting. Jesus gives life to Lazarus, and in the process, seals his own fate.2024-10-2730 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 58 "Who is Jesus: The Good Shepherd" - John 10:1-21In a powerful metaphor, Jesus proclaims that he is the good shepherd. Domesticated sheep cannot survive on their own without a shepherd. They depend on shepherds for leading and protecting them. It is also true for Christians that we depend on Jesus, our good shepherd who lays down his life for his sheep.2024-10-2027 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 57 "Who is Jesus: The Light of the World" - John 8:12Darkness. It’s a common fear in children (and adults). It brings the unknown and the unseen. The Bible teaches that the world is in darkness, due to sin. In this passage, Jesus teaches that he is the light of the world. 2024-10-1322 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 56 "Who is Jesus: Bread of Life" - John 6:27-35We so often focus on our physical needs and what’s in front of us. In this week's passage, Jesus points us to the reason why we shouldn't worry, as he tells us to pursue God's kingdom and live for the Lord in the present.2024-09-2922 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 54 "Two Masters: The Treasure" - Matthew 6:19-24In the Gospels, Jesus talks more about our wealth than he talks about marriage, politics, or sex. One of the most powerful idols of the human heart is money. In this week’s passage, the Lord will talk about the power of money and the blinding impact it can have on us.2024-09-2223 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 53 "Hypocrisy: A Fast Sermon" - Matthew 6:16-8Jesus has talked about hypocritical generosity and hypocritical prayer. In this passage, he talks about hypocritical fasting. In many Christian circles, there can be a limited emphasis on fasting, but it’s a biblical practice. In this message we explore what fasting is, why Christians fast, and what it means for our spiritual lives.2024-09-1522 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 52 "Hypocrisy: The Lord's Prayer" - Matthew 6:5-15Jesus prays throughout the gospels, but there is only one that we call THE Lord’s Prayer. While the hypocrites pray on and on, Jesus encourages us to pray in ways that focus our attention on God, his kingdom, and the forgiveness he offers us.2024-09-0830 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 51 "Hypocrisy: Greedy Giving" - Matthew 6:1-4In the first of three passages dealing with the subject of hypocrisy, Jesus talks about how people can give for selfish purposes. In a world that likes to keep score, Christians should be generous for its own sake and out of knowing a God who has given generously to his people.2024-09-0123 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 50 "Finding Hope in Your Story" - Genesis 50:19-21Guest preacher, Pastor Scott Taylor, brings an encouraging message that God is the God of our story. 2024-08-2528 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 49 "Sacrificial Servanthood"Sam Taubl, Trinity's Director of Youth and Worship, delivers a message seeking to answer the question, should the Christian life be comfortable?2024-08-1833 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 48 "Jars of Clay" - 2 Corinthians 4:7-18By itself, a jar of clay is ultimately pretty insignificant. In the ancient world, the jar itself might not have been valuable, but it could contain things which were high valuable. In a powerful metaphor, the Apostle Paul compares Christians to having treasures in jars of clay. Our value is because of the Spirit of God and the power of Christ that are alive in the heart of a believer.2024-08-1133 minTrinity Church WoodbridgeTrinity Church WoodbridgeEp. 47 "Values of the Kingdom: Radical Love" - Matthew 5:43-48As Jesus has given a series of expanding teachings on the Old Testament, each of them has been as radical in our time as it was to the first century audience for whom he was preaching. In the final teaching, Jesus starts with an easy idea, “Love your neighbor.” That’s easy enough to agree with until we think about all that entails. Jesus goes from love of neighbor to love of our enemies. It’s another picture of the gospel. As fallen people, we are enemies of God because of our sin; but Jesus went to the cross. We can want “an eye for an eye.” This passage is not opposed to justice, but it does give us pause in the retaliation we seek. It also touches on the Christian life and generosity. As Jesus continues his moral teachings in the Sermon on the Mount, he comes to the subject of oaths.
