“My” Good
This episode explores a dangerous tendency many of us have when we read Scripture that may lead us to expect things out of the Christian life that may not be Biblical.Richards, E. Paul talks about kids, slavery, and masters
I admit this was a hard episode for me to put together because I am neither knowledgeable or experienced on these topics> I chose to share things I found and thoughts I came across to better understand Paul’s address on them. This focuses on Colossians 3:20-4:6. I used the Tony Evans Study Bible CSB version along with a few commentaries and interlinear bibles that are also available free of charge to you online. Remember to always invest in studying these topics yourself!

Uh-oh! Husbands & Wives (Col. 3:18-19)
In this podcast we discuss some things I learned about the Biblical functions of wives and husbands to the best of my ability after using biblical dictionaries to better understand wording that has made me feel negatively in the past. Some of my opinions are inserted here. Read Colossians 3:18-19 and Ephesians 5: 22-35ish, pray and study it.

Read it all before you interpret. (Col 1:15-29
This episode I focus on talking about the danger of making interpretations with incomplete perspective or information when it pertains to Bible study. While going through these verses, I was intrigued by the word “first born” that Paul uses to describe Christ in verse 15. We talk about what that term actually means in this episode. Walk Worthy - Colossians 1:1-14
Im sharing things I learned through a deep dive of this book. Read the portion before or after listening to this. Most scholars believe Colossians was written by Paul in prison. He wrote to the early church of Colosse and a big focus of the book is the preeminence of Christ and the importance of Him in life. The following are a set of summarized points I talk through: a) Our hope is in Christ. b) I must bear fruit to show myself worthy of His sacrifice. c) Good works do not get...

Definitions of the words “confess” and “repent”
In English we sometimes use one word to cover many different things. It’s helpful to know what root word implication is used to better grasp the message of a verse. Today, we explore the words “confess” and “repent”. I used the Vine’s Expository Dictionary and the Blue Letter Bible online. You can verify all this on either tool. II Cor. 9:13 | I Tim. 6:12-13 use the word profess for the root word “homólogia” which is confession. Heb. 7:21 | II Cor. 7:8 uses the word “metamelomai” as regret when translated to repent. Hi there! This episode I chose to share what I have learned after deeper study of the story of Zacchaeus, AKA "the wee little man". I always wondered about the extreme hatred and disgust Jews had against tax collectors. A deep dive made me better understand why the wee man was probably hated more than most. I talk about sycamore trees, the difference between Publicani vs hired tax collectors, the taxes themselves and what was the treatment toward collectors. It's always refreshing to see that, where people only see unredeemable trash, Jesus saw a person with value and worthy...

Prautes: True Meekness
**This episode is available in Spanish as a pilot episode titled: "Prautes: verdadera mansedumbre"** This is my first attempt at creating content in both languages for more accessibility. Here we explore the meaning of the word meekness and how we often think about this virtue incorrectly. If we sought to guide our daily walk, with God's help, adopting a meek attitude, our lives would be VASTLY different. I have significant battles with this on my day to day, especially now dealing with a frustrating health problem that has changed my life. Through this study, I hope you...

T&T: Helpful Book for Study
On this episode of Tips & Tricks, I give a broad summary about a book I found extremely helpful for my daily walk. Book: "Holier Than Thou: How God's Holiness Helps Us Trust Him" Author: Jackie Hill Perry I hone in on 8 different big lessons I got out of the book, but there are so many. I will reread this multiple times and keep it as a resource. The main premise is exploring the holiness, righteousness, goodness and justice of God. Sounds like it may be boring, but it is anything but. How you...

Confession: I Don't Want to Help Out
In this episode we talk about things which, if we are honest, we rather not disclose. Things like not wanting to help in church, having anxiety over saying "yes" to ministry requests, burnout and more. We do not have to pretend there hasn't been at least one occasion when serving, or being asked to serve, evokes a "NOPE" reaction. Our reasons may be quite varied. Here we take a dive into matters of the heart and root reasons why we get uncomfortable serving or committing. This dive is necessary since these hidden reasons may eventually lead us to wear...

A Year as a Mole: Lessons in Time of Trial
In this episode I seek to share the reality of my trial pertaining my health to an extent. More importantly, I want to affirm, lift up and encourage any of you going through a trial yourself. God has used this time to work in my heart beautifully and I have realized more than ever that I cannot pass a single day without seeking God's face or I will simply wilt and despair. Times of trial are uncomfortable, unwanted, stressful and discouraging. When we are focused inward, we ask all sorts of things, as I have asked plenty of times...

Leaven, Shame and Blasphemy...oh goodie!
This episode tackles the reading of Luke 12:1-12 were we encounter some not so nice topics to talk about. Here I aim to: 1. Define the metaphor of leaven and why it was such an important picture God uses with Jews. 2. Talk about being ashamed of Christ and what that entails. 3. Bring light to what blasphemy against the Holy Spirit means to the best of my ability. (Always do your due diligence and read the text yourself. Mark 3:28-30)

After this manner, Proseuchomai*
Hi again! This week I walk through the reading of Matthew 6:9-15; that's right, the Lord's prayer. This model prayer has a few separate components that help us orient our own prayer and I talk about what I've learned concerning each one. For a summary on the sections of prayer, go to minute 41:35. Parallel account Luke 11:1-13 | Vain repetitions Matt. 6:7 | Holy Spirit interceding in our behalf in prayer Rom. 8:26 *Proseuchomai = pray to God, supplicate, worship (Strong's G4336)

In this episode, we do a walk-through on the cost of being a disciple of Christ. We also unravel and dig a bit deeper on some responses Jesus gave followers that may seem, at face value, to be disagreeable and unfair (but really isn't). Reading: Luke 9:57-62 Parallel Account: Matthew 8:19-22

I share what I have learned and asked myself while looking into the healing of the 10 lepers. I also share some insight into how the priests worked through skin diseases when they checked individuals. Who is the greatest & why do some stories seem to differ in parallel accounts?
On this episode, I talk about some of the problems the disciples had understanding things Jesus told them, as well as issues with having the right heart, faith and pride. I also walk through some of my summary from the lessons Christ had on how God esteems greatness within a heart of service. Finally, I highlight some of the things that can seem confusing if you start looking at parallel accounts and how they might sound as though they conflict, although they are all the same story. I use some personal creativity and deliberation to explain it how I...

Are you "wishy-washy"?
Reading: Proverbs 13 (I focus on verses 4,6,10, and 13-18) This reading reminded me of a time when I was not organized or purposeful about things I had a supposedly deep desire to do. Have you been wishy-washy with goal setting lately in your spiritual walk, your commitments, or in general? I talk about this and a few other items in this episode. Topics for study books you probably need just like me: self-control | organization | forgiving others | anger management | humility and meekness | holding your tongue | loving difficult people biblically | dealing with jealousy or lust

The Sea of Life & Circumstances
In this episode we snorkel (LOL) into the account of the storm at the Sea of Galilee. Life is guaranteed some bumps, but storms that threaten our existence make us doubt God's care for us. Here I encourage you to reinforce the understanding that He does, regardless of what your journey looks like. Reading: Luke 8:22-25 | Parallel Accounts: Matt. 8:23-34; Mark 4:35-41 We will look at: historical info to help us picture the scene & nerdy facts about boats the disciples response to the real dangers they faced Jesus' nap time and His response to...
