Judges: This Great Salvation - Gideon: Grace to Break Generational Cycles of Sin
Waymond Hampton teaches through part 3 of the life of Gideon found in the end of Judges 7 through Judges 9. In this story we see God's invitation for Gideon to break generational cycles of sin and Gideons refusal to do so. The extraordinary victory that God's people had over the enemy armies of Midian was not enough for Gideon. He turns from God's ways and wisdom and leads himself, his family, and his people into greater depths of sin, and rejects God's offer of a new way. Through Jesus, we have the opportunity each day to say no to the continuation...

The Lord's Prayer: Hallowed be your Name
Waymond Hampton teaches through "hallowed be your name" in our series on the Lord's Prayer. He starts with the story of God revealing his name to his people at the Exodus, and paints of picture of how "hallowed be your name" is a call to come under the beautiful authority of "our Father in heaven". Just as Jesus submitted to his Father's will in all things, we are called to submit as well - by not allowing any other name to be hallowed in our lives and by laying down divisions and partisanship for the sake of others.

Luke 1: God's Sovereignty
Waymond Hampton teaches through Luke 1 in our Lenten miniseries on Luke. In Luke 1 the birth and lives of John the Baptist and Jesus are foretold to their parents. These foretellings speak of amazing promises, yet the way each story is lived out is full of both triumph and incredible difficulty. In a culture that tells us "you can do anything you set your mind to" and "anything is possible" we need the truth of God's word to help us see how crucial it is to submit our stories to the One who is writing The Story.

Laying down compartmentalization
Waymond Hampton closes out our Laying it Down series by teaching on laying down compartmentalization. Our culture conditions us to break our lives into different "rooms" that don't tend to overlap one another, and this can cause us to live a disjointed spiritual life. As we apprentice to Jesus, though, the walls can come down and we can become attentive to God's voice in all situations, living a life of restored relationship with the Father, just as Jesus did.
