Judges: This Great Salvation - Gideon: God's Might on Behalf of his People
Wes Swarthout teaches through Judges 7. In this chapter, God significantly reduces Gideon’s army from 32,000 to just 300 men to show that victory comes by his power, and so Israel couldn’t say: “My own hand has saved me.” During the night, Gideon overhears a Midianite soldier talking about a dream about a loaf of barley bread tumbling into their camp and destroying a tent—a prophetic sign interpreted as Gideon’s coming victory. Encouraged by this, Gideon and his 300 men attack the Midianite camp with trumpets, torches, and jars, causing panic and confusion; bringing about a miraculous triumph over the enemy.

I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life

This exclusive statement is full of grace, because it means that there is indeed a way to God the Father! Jesus makes the incredible statement that he, himself, is the way AND the destination; he is the personal embodiment of truth; and he is the only one who can give the gift of abundant life in the here-and-now and for all eternity.

Foundations: Community
Wes Swarthout teaches on the biblical foundation of community. From all eternity past, even before Creation, God himself was in a perfect and loving community as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. From the beginning of humanity's creation, we see that we have been created to enjoy and live as a part of that same community. Jesus died to make a way for us to live in that community now and to enjoy it forever. Now, we can live out this truth as the Church! This is not a social club or an emotional support group, but rather a family...

Luke 19: The Triumphal Entry

He comes with the express purpose of going to the cross to accomplish his Father's work. He is intentional and intense, yet, instead of riding a war horse to declare war on Israel's enemies, he enters on a donkey to bring peace and to bring ultimate victory over sin and death - our spiritual enemies. With great grief and great hope he submits himself to his Father's...
