In the coming months, six Baltimore artists will be creating public works that harness these qualities of light, thanks to one million dollars from the Bloomberg Philanthropies' Public Art Challenge. Baltimore is one of just eight cities across the US to get the funding, which will support installations centered in the Station North Arts District. The first unveiling happens Friday, March 28 from 6-10pm with Zoe Charlton's piece, Third Watch. We get a preview from visual artist and curator Derrick...

FFAtoZ S4 Ep 14 Joey's Dirty Day
It’s fair to say this isn’t a favourite episode of Season 4 for Adele or Zoe or indeed the audience at large. That said, this is a really important one because we meet for the first time one of the most disruptive and memorable characters of all ten seasons. It does raise a number of questions though: why does Emily sound like she has a fake British accent, even though the actress playing her his actually British? Why is her character still so hated twenty years on? How on earth did Charlton Heston’s cameo come into being? Why di...

Rendition ft. Zoe Charlton
Several formative experiences have shaped D.C. and Baltimore-based artist Zoë Charlton’s career and inspired her work. Growing up, she was a frequent visitor to her grandmother’s blue house and wooded property in the Florida panhandle, a place that was “dense with growth and large with memory,” where extended family frequently gathered. At Florida State University, one of Charlton’s mentors, the late Ed Love, told her to “make sure you study with people who look like you.” He knew something she didn’t fully understand at the time: that by being intentional about who you surround yourself with, you are bui...
