Groundwater: The Blues Beneath American MusicThe Country's Memory: Jimi Hendrix, Strange Fruit, and American Music at 250Jimi Hendrix played "The Star-Spangled Banner" at Woodstock in 1969 and let the war in around the melody. This year the United States turns 250. This Groundwater special steps back from the map to ask what twentieth-century American music has been for: the country's memory, the part of the record that didn't get edited. At its center is Billie Holiday's "Strange Fruit" — the song that held a mirror up to lynching, and the song the state went after its singer over. Around it: the Fisk Jubilee Singers and the spirituals; Woody Guthrie's "This Land Is Your Land" and the ve...

Niente allarmismi e niente accuse: solo
analisi. Piedi per terra, ma mente aperta.
E tu cosa ne pensi? Coincidenze, arte o qualcos'altro? Fatto o teoria? Dimmelo nei commenti.

TRANSposition PodcastC.S. Lewis and the Sex/Gender DistinctionIn this essay I explore C.S. Lewis’ understanding of the relationship between Sex and Gender. I also provide evidence that contemporary scholarship is wrong insofar as it fails to attribute Lewis as the first modern scholar to have insisted on this distinction in published work (he did it in Perelandra a few years before Simone de Beauvoir published The Second Sex). Here is a Link to the original essay in written form. Her first release with RCA Victor showcases her deep connection to the blues tradition, drawing influence from legends like Bessie Smith and Billie Holiday. With tracks like "Do I Move You?" and "Backlash Blues," inspired by Langston Hughes, Simone’s music captures the racial tensions and personal struggles of the 1960s.

Oto pierwsza część naszej opowieści o muzyce wyjątkowej, ważnej i wyrażającej sprzeciw.

Terrible PersonShabbat Simone Biles Pt 1Gary and Selena open the episode with off-the-rails energy that quickly turns into a wide conversation about current events, conspiracy thinking, pop culture, and relationship tension. They unpack the Hawaii wildfires, media narratives surrounding disaster response, government involvement, and why questioning official explanations immediately gets people labeled or shut down. The discussion moves between empathy, skepticism, and dark humor as Gary and Selena try to make sense of tragedy, power, and who actually benefits when everything burns. The conversation jumps into religion, Shabbat traditions, Jewish customs, and how cultural rules get misunderstood or exaggerated, blending genuine curiosity with satire.

「American Dream」—

摘自《The Tragic Story Behind Billie Holiday's "Strange Fruit”》— EUDIE PAKTracklist：01.
