In part 2 of our deep dive into Zora Neale Hurston's life, we finally talk about zombies! Zora Neale Hurston Part 1
Gather round, children, for the story of one of the coolest ladies in literary history. Zora Neale Hurston was born with a thirst for adventure and the confidence to conquer the world, even though at the start of the 1900s, to be both black and a woman seemed a formidable barrier to overcome. But it didn’t take long for her to make her mark on the world as both a writer during the Harlem Renaissance (her most popular novel is Their Eyes Were Watching God), and an anthropologist, studying hoodoo and...

"Alice in Wonderland" is one of the most-loved children's books of all time, but how much do you know about its creator, Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (AKA Lewis Carroll)? Mary Shelley, creator of Frankenstein
If Mary Shelley's life were a book, you'd put it down because it sounds too dramatic and tragic to be believable. By her mid-20s, the creator of "Frankenstein" had run off with a poet, been disowned by her family, lost four children, published a literary masterpiece, and been widowed. Tyler and Hannah spend far too much time ragging on Mary's husband, and Tyler has quite the theory about the deeper meaning behind "Frankenstein." Harper Lee ( To Kill a Mockingbird)
Harper Lee was living the dream in the early 1960s. The first novel she had ever written had been published, become a bestseller, and been awarded the Pulitzer Prize all within a year. Almost overnight she had gone from an anonymous Alabaman to one of the most influential American authors in history. So why, then, didn’t this promising young writer publish anything else after “To Kill a Mockingbird”? Hannah and Tyler examine Lee’s incredible rise to prominence and her withdrawal from the spotlight. Hannah read: “Mockingbird: A Portrait of Harper Lee” by Charles J. Shields

Tyler sits down and talks to Scott Minor from Realm Makers. An organization that is dedicated to the support and promotion and education of Speculative Fiction Authors who have a Faith in Jesus Christ. Kazuo Ishiguro (Lorna MacDougall's Husband)
Kazuo Ishiguro is the Nobel Prize winning author of short stories and novels including “Remains of the Day” and “Never Let Me Go,” both adapted into films. He’s also a screenwriter and musician. Tyler hates him for his success. Hannah likes him for his calming voice and British accent. Hannah and Tyler both read Ishiguro’s latest novel, “Klara and the Sun,” and discuss it at length. Ty-Ty the Bible Guy makes an enlightening appearance, weird sex talk happens for no apparent reason, and we have a live studio audience! Spoilers for “Never Let Me Go” start at 43...

“Trillian’s Choice” ITF Watch: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (2005 film) ft. Tyler Clawson
Douglas Adams’s iconic novel was posthumously adapted to the screen by Garth Jennings and features a star-studded cast (Martin Freeman, Mos Def, Zooey Deschanel, Sam Rockwell, Alan Rickman, Stephen Fry, etc.), but does it do the novel justice? In episode 177, Luke & James are joined by Tyler Clawson of the Between Lewis & Lovecraft podcast to talk about the Americanization of British humor, Trillian’s romantic options, and even make some suggestions for changes to the screenplay. They end by casting their votes on which was better: the book or the movie! Listen to Between Lewis & Lovecraft: https://lewislovecraft.weeb...

We talk about the many subgenres of romance (bully romance is a thing?), why Nicholas Sparks doesn’t count as a romance novelist, trends in the genre and industry, how to get ARCs, and the types of novels Rachel will NOT read. Frank Herbert Part 2
Frank Herbert part two! Tyler has an existential crisis, Hannah can’t pronounce Arrakeen, and both of them weigh in on Herbert’s love life. Honestly, Herbert crammed so much living into his 65 years on this planet that we could have easily talked about him for even longer, but hopefully we did him justice between the two episodes. Also, I (Hannah) swear this author was requested by a listener, but I can’t find their original message. If that was you, reach out and let us know how we did :) Hannah...
