At the root of Nick Lapien and Robin Koek’s Artefakt project is a shared love for melancholic, hypnotic voodoo music. Their sound is pensive with deep, rich textures; long track lengths—often six-minutes-plus—give the duo an expansive framework in which to make small changes of texture and tone, creating cerebral, balanced atmospheres that absorb and engage. “Sometimes we just take a short element, like the sound of a falling drop of water, and from this recording we extract the rhythm and use it as a starting point,” they say. “It’s a very organic way of creating new material.”

Hailing from Belgium, Border One has amassed an irrefutable reputation in his home country and beyond since the release of his first 12-inch record in 2015. Between a fascination for sound discovery through the use of his modular synthesizer and his loyalty to the classic club rhythms, Border One’s style serves as a swiss-army knife for promoters and DJ’s on an international level.
With a self description expressing a priority to make the crowd move, his music does not fall short of its intention. After 10 years of trance career and numerous achievements, YUTA switched to techno in 2015, launched Liquid Drop Groove in 2016, releasing music, podcasts, video streaming, and in 2023 started the vinyl label TGPXLDG with NESS. In addition, he has taken a wide range of approaches to maximize the label's potential, including memorable outdoor parties such as Agaitida and EDEN, the indoor festival SPECTACLE, and Bassiani Tokyo collaboration series with overseas labels. YUTA's main activity DJ, a resident at the well-known VENT club in Tokyo. Musically, he tries to reach for new solutions, blending different subgenres of electronic music into a wider ensemble. Donija oscillates between highly technological breakbeat, bass, electro, hyper pop, grime, dub, and wet, psychedelic idmish techno, all sprinkled with a noticeable UK influence. Jefta Wattimena also known as Jephta, is a Dutch DJ based in Amsterdam and a resident of the
Rotterdam-based organization Embodiment.
Heavily influenced by the dark atmospheres with immense depth in the Scandinavian sound together
with the repetitive and controlled sound and way of playing, Jephta crafted his own sound within this
realm often including experimental and hypnotic elements in his sets. He achieves that through his
hybrid setup, and in order to make his performances as fluent and dense as possible, he always has 4
decks open.
As a resident of Embodiment, Jephta feels that his duty is to bring their vision to the community, but
also to the newcomers in the scene, and together to create what in his eyes is a perfect club night.

37번째 꿈 이야기는 서울에 기반을 둔 현대/실험음악 집단 '거리'의 자유 즉흥 연주 라이브 세트와 함께합니다.
이번 에피소드는 지난 5월 15일에 클럽 vurt.에서 열렸던 꿈kkum 라이브 이벤트에서 녹음되었습니다.
거리(Geori)는 피아니스트, 작곡가, 예술감독으로 활동중인 Jared Redmond와 대금 연주자이자 작곡가로 활동중인 백다솜이 위대한 시인 '이상'의 시 ‘거리’로부터 영감을 받아 만들어진 즉흥 자유 연주 그룹이며, 2016년 결성 이후 자유 즉흥 연주 이외에도 노이즈, 실험음악, 설치미술, 미디어 아트 등 다양한 예술분야의 작가들과 협업해오고 있다. 2023년에는 독일의 전설적인 앰비언트 아티스트 Wolfgang Voigt과 협업한 ‘금(金)’이라는 제목의 실험적 즉흥 앨범이 영국의 Astral Industries 레이블을 통해 발매될 예정이며, 미국의 Tone Glow Records를 통해 정규 앨범 발매를 준비하고 있다.
The 37th Kkum episode is accompanied by a live performance recording of freely improvised music from Seoul-based contemporary/experimental music group ‘Geori’ (Jared Redmond & Dasom Baek).
This episode was recorded last May 15th at the Kkum live event held at club Vurt.
Geori is a contemporary experimental and improvisational performance group, inspired by great experimental poet Yi Sang's poem ‘Geori’ ('Distance') it is led by artistic directors Jared Redmond, contemporary pianist and composer, and daegeum (Korean bamboo flute) player and composer Dasom Baek. Geori has been collaborating with artists from various fields including noise and experimental music, media arts, contemporary classical composition, and installation art. In 2023, Geori will release an experimental improv album titled "Geum" / ‘금(金) in collaboration with legendary German ambient artist Wolfgang Voigt through Astral Industries label (UK), and a full album of compositions and improvisations through Tone Glow Records (US).

Fred Mann participated in the compilation album 'in_vurt' in 2020 on Arcing Seas, which was made for Vurt club in Seoul. Also he has participated in compilation albums released by Counterchange and Arch Records, and has presented various works that combine graphics, animation, and sounds. This winter he will release a 45-minute audiovisual album called 'In Thy Domain' in collaboration with Chris Taylor (Warp/RCA) & Inland (Counterchange/A-Ton) and visual artist Benjamin Maus on Counterchange.

The 31st vurt podcast features a 113-minute set called ‘Orbium Mix’ by Berlin-based techno artist Magna Pia - a solo project by electronic musician Hüseyin Evirgen who is known as half of the legendary live techno duo - Cassegrain. Magna Pia focuses on providing combative dance floor trips and unorthodox sonic moods with subtle 90s techno references while he keeps his interest in combining contemporary techno music with archaic symbolism.
Magna Pia recently released his second solo EP [Orbium] on the Counterchange label, ahead of a full-length LP on the label set for Q4 this year. It contains 4 tracks of highly effective techno-purism laced with shamanic, psychedelic undertones, intuitive modulating arrangements, and cyclical, kinetic energy.

Since his first visit to vurt in 2018 as an ambient specialist, Ario has moved to Seoul last year and sharing his deep sounds and thoughts with Seoul friends. We're happy to share Ario's techno mix which inspired by his special experiences in Seoul over the past few years, on the last day of the lunar 2020 through vurt podcast.

With origins linking back to Iran, London-born and Seoul-based Ario is a practitioner of deep and inquisitive music - both as a DJ and label curator of Astral Industries. Although his remit falls within the deeper shades of electronic music, his overall aesthetic draws on a broader spectrum that prizes the synthesis of both instrumental and electronic disciplines. Depending on context, he traverses the lines and forms between ambient, experimental and heavier, club-ready styles. What is common between these worlds, however, is his alchemic handling of rich organicism mixed with darker, more austere sounds. Over the last few years Luigi Tozzi has been calmly making a name for himself as one of Europe’s go-to DJs for his distinct brand of techno that draws both from ambient music as well as from the club. Raised in Rome, the DJ and Producer takes influence from the timeless italian sound, which he’s further developed with an emotional, swirling, dubby atmosphere. While prolific, Tozzi has kept his output within a close family of labels. 40,000여 년 동안 인간은 신성한 의식을 치러왔으며 이는 삶을 지배하는 힘, 그리고 움직임과의 교감을 위한 것이었다. 성스러운 불길로부터 뿜어져 나오는 연기 속. 환각적 성찬에 취한 우리는 재빠른 박자에 보폭을 맞추어 춤추고 환희한다. 차원이 맞닿은 경계의 지하 아래로, 또 우주의 머나먼 외곽 너머로 우리는 여행을 떠난다. Ntogn은 이러한 성스러운 불꽃과 환영적 연기구름을 구현해낸다. 청각적 마법을 부리기 위하여, 그는 소용돌이로부터 솟아 나온 주문, 즉 어둡고 사이키델릭한 테크노 의식을 통해 오망성의 다섯 가지 원소를 녹여낸다. 동시에 그는 신화적, 신비학적 내러티브를 창조해낸다.
For 40'000 years, man has performed sacred rituals in order to commune with the ruling forces of life and motion. In pace with rapid beats and under the influence of entheogenic sacraments, we have been dancing and raving in the smoke of sacred fires in order to travel inwards to the undergrounds of bordering dimensions and beyond to the distant fringe of the universe. Ntogn wants to embody these holy flames and visionary clouds of smoke. To act as a sonic magician, not only fusing the five elements of the pentagram with spells evoked in swirling, dark and psychedelic techno rituals, but also to create a mythological and occult narrative.
